I think it's safe to say that we all need to be reminded of them from time to time. Just because you are on a computer possibly hundreds or thousands of miles away from your chat partner, does not automatically give you a license to be a b-tch or an as-hole.

In fact, if you think about it, just the opposite. You want to garner a good reputation on the net. The gossip on here is almost too thick to breathe sometimes and opinions that are formed here leave a lasting impression.

Knowing that everything can spread quicker than a prom dates legs, wouldn't you rather have rumors circulating about you like, "He/She is really a great person. or When no one else took the time to help me, they did." than derogatory ones? Deeds like those go a long way in hatching friendships that could eventually breed relationship possobilities.

The same rule applies here as as with pictures. If you'd be embarassed for a friend or mom to see it, then it's probably not a good thing to post or mail to someone.

The biggest thing on the Internet is common sense or "think before you do." Ask yourself would you want someone sending derogatory messages to your sister/broth/mom/or dad? If you yourself wouldn't approve of it, what makes you think it's ok for you to say it to someone else? Sure you don't know them, but that stranger stranger wouldn't likely know a member of your family either.
