How about some hot fresh coffee ?? Or prehaps some fresh Lemonaide .. the cherry cobbler looked really good tonight .. I just saw the cook pull some chicken pot pies out that smelled wonderful , would you like cheese on that burger I like my cheese bubbly .. How would you like those eggs cooked , cheese and bacon and sourcream on that baked potato??

What I always find amusing (but appreciated) is the small, almost imperceptible shake of the head when I start ordering, warning me off of something in advance. Then I keep picking until I get a little nod.

I worked waitressing for a bit.. I quit pretty quickly... People can be so rude. I remember one night, I got talked to by the manager because these people said I never asked them how there food was... Well I had. They told me there daughter didn't like her chicken so they left no tip and HER meal was deducted from my tips... I never went back and will never do it again.. I always try to be nice to servers when I go places because I know how rough it can be.

I tell customers all the time that something is not really that fresh but if they don't mind waiting I can make sure that is it .. if I have to skin the soup I will not reccomend it ..

Some say "the service was bad", well...if you got your food and drinks, then also got your table cleared by this server...then they deserve a tip. These people work for about 2.10 an hour, plus tips. You may or may not know it but...they are taxed for the amount of the table ticket. Yes...they pay taxes for what they served. It is assumed by the government and the establishment that they made either 10 or 15 percent on that ticket. Depending on what state you are from?
I worked in a place where it was automatically deducted from the payroll check. So if I was stiffed for lets say a 40 dollar tab...I payed them 4.00 or 4.50 to wait on them. Paying the tax on that.

I do not care how bad the service is...I will always tip. Never under a dollar. I will try and give helpful hints to a new waiter-waitress on how to get those tips. I am well received in any restaurant I walk into. They know who tips and treat them well.

I waitressed and bartended. Lived off my tips- much better than my pay at the time.

Occasionally got one once and awhile that wouldnt tip.

I usually found people tip quite well.

it all depends but I think folks should know that we depend on those tips to make ends meet

For me if they don't leave a tip, but they are really nice and don't mess up their table badly then I'm cool with it.
I once worked at a waitressing job where we couldn't get tips. Even if it was like 20, we couldn't take it. I worked at a non profitable place so all the tips were considered donations to the company. Didn't mind so much though, I made really good money and all the 'donations' made it so we could fix up the place even more.
So yeah. I'm cool with or without tips.
I myself try to tip every single time.
And I also stack the plates up neatly and cups, because I know how it is. Sometimes when I'm feeling really nice I write words like thank you or it was awesome on my plate with the left over food or ketchup. I loved it when people did that to me so I liked to make other waiters and waitresses smile.

I am easssyyyyy to wait on .. if my food is hot .. if something is wrong I am still nice about it , let them fix it and move on ...
