I have been with my company for 8 yrs and since the new owner took over ,it has been a living h*ll..we found out yesterday that we have no i.d. #'s on our paycheck stubs...so if the business folds we can't collect unemployment. Today I was asked to fill in for an absent employee and do her job ( no problem....I've done it many times) but I was constantly put down that I wasn't doing it correctly and told that I could be replaced for less money as the company is struggling. I did kinda flip out on my boss at that point and told him I was leaving. He told me I was uncool (lol) and to go and then yelled ...see ya tommarrow! So I left. He will be screwed if he fires me but ,I can't work with him anymore. But it seems I am up the creek with no paddle here if I leave. Any opinions? I don't know what to do.

is he taking out taxes

and if not

report him

HUmmm what I was told from unemployment office once was if you have worked there at least 5 years it is really hard for any employer to dispute the case and you can say you had to quit do to stress on the job there are ways around it believe me but I hear ya for I make pretty good were I work but lately its not been good for a while have thought myself to walk out. But the proof is there that you work there it all goes under the company's tax ID number and your check stubs are proof also.

yeah I found some info on that . I think we will be okay if we close after all. Someone was a step ahead and reported them already. There were 3 calls and some dept. of employment faxes coming through....I actually went in friday and swallowed the pride and apologized for "abondoning my post" I'm not fired So now I guess I'm on probation...lol

If your company has an HR department I would consult them.

What kind of company is this? I know you have 8 years with them but are you sure you want to continue to invest your life and time with them?

my last job i walked out to. i was the only one working, the others were sitting drinking cofee and chatting, there was a mix up with a patient file, they made 2 numbers for one file, so i couldnt find it. we used numbers because i worked in a gu clinic and its more confidential. well i had enough of no one helping or doing anything, and on the very rare occasion they did something, they did it wrong. bear in mind i was new and they had worked there years. i had enough so i got my pen through it across the room and shouted fu*k off, and walked out, and never went back. they kept phoning me all the time asking me to come back, but i said NO. the only reason they wanted me back was because i was the only one doing my job properly. also when i had time off for a operation, the consultant said the reception went to pot and they couldnt cope without me. walking out was the best thing i did, and knowing they would have to get off there fat ass and do my job gave me great pleasure. happy happy

I'd stick with it until you get another job. I'd try to avoid conflict with the boss and try to do things like they want them done. I'd pray about the situation and pray that I could either improve the situation or find another job. I'm always applying for other jobs no matter where I'm at, just in case something better comes along. Right now, I have a dislocated shoulder so I can't work at all, unless I go back to cashiering, and I'm not real wild about doing that right now so, I'll just hang around and wait and see what happens. I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time at work. What do you do? Maybe if we knew more about your job we could give you some better advice. Hang in there, do your best, and maybe talk to the boss about your feelings if you think it'd do any good (or talk to his boss, if you don't think it'd backfire on you).

I don't know what the job market is like where you are from, but here in Indiana...its bad!! Companies are closing and people are really having a hard time finding work!
As far as you not being able to claim unemployment, I don't think you will have a problem at all. My sister was working under a boss who was a complete jerk...her dr gave her a note and said that she need to take Xanax to go to work because the working conditions were so bad. She finally had to quit and believe me she had to go before the Unemployment Board but she won!!!
Good Luck flowerforyou

ooops sorry bout' that

maybe I will call in the morning and ask if I should come in ...lol

I think you should; there are no jobs out there believe me I just lost mine and it sucks:cry:

Hang in there Twitch, I'm sure things will look up. You seem like a great person so I'm sure you won't have a hard time finding a job.

Unsure had a very good point. The job market is not real hot right now. Best to minimize the conflict so you buy some time to find something better before you go walking off into the sunset.

just something to keep in mind

you may not be fired

yet

because they have not found another

to replace you yet

tomorrow is a new day

and things can change

if it was me i would be looking

and if they moved you to the catch all position
in the office

they may be looking for a fall person when it hits the fan
