im a childcarer and ive seen possibly every side to how parents raise there kids, but this week was a new one on me, i have taken on a three year old girl, whose mummy basically caters for every whim this child wants..no please or thankyous...princess is to stay soft and be smothered and in no way is she not to have her own way as it might upset her...am i wrong in thinking this is a set up ready to blow up in mum and dads face...

wow....maybe think twice about taking that one on...might cause problems with other children...thinking if she gets her way..they can too...and yes...eventually she will be a problem child for parents....

Sounds like little princess is ruling the parents and will be wanting a mobile phone by the time shes 4 ! You shouldnt have to teach this girl manners, thread carefully or call SuperNanny !

I've found that the best way to raise children is to give them lots of love and encouragement but I always make sure my children say please and thank you and are taught to be polite...I won't have it any other way. Kids are human and have good and bad days and good moods and bad moods but there needs to be boundaries for them. Once when I was young on christmas day my brothers and myself were arguing over Scrabble and my mother threw the scrabble board and letters in the fire....I learnt a valuable lesson from that...never play scrabble near an open fire ! To be fair that was a tad harsh but still the lesson was learnt that my parents were in charge.

I have raised 11 kids over the years and realized a long time ago children need and even want boundaries, they also need consequences for violating these boundaries, but most of all when enforcing boundaries, its important that the child is told that you love them

I agree with the other posters. Children need boundries. At the same time, it's only natural for them to constantly test those "fences" so to speak, as well as it's our job to constantly maintain them so that the child can feel secure in knowing where they are.
You're right about it eventually back firing on the parent. As soon as the children in question are put in school (a social situation), they'll be required to learn to play fair and share equally. I feel it behooves any parent to begin that training early on so that school can be best utilized and the teachers won't have to spend inordinant amounts of time doing it, thus taking time away from the kids that are more socially adept.
JMO. Hi Debbie:smile: , btw

wow! those parents are going to be in for a very rude awakening! I've always taught my kids there are consequences for every action. Good or bad. As for sharing? Well, if they couldnt share and play nice then I put whatever it is they are fighting over away until another day.( That worked when they were little ) Now that they are older? I take away the telephone and OMG! That just drives them crazy!
