well there was nothing in that article that made any reference to the ACLU but I did find this..

The FBI Becomes Involved: After the three failed to return to Meridan on time, CORE workers placed calls to the Neshoba County jail asking if the police had any information about the three civil rights workers. Jailer Minnie Herring, denied any knowledge about their whereabouts. All of the events that took place after the three were imprisoned is uncertain but one thing is known for sure, they were never seen alive again. The date was June 21, 1964.

"By June 23, FBI agent John Proctor and a team of 10 agents, were in Neshoba Country investigating the disappearance of the three men. What the KKK had not counted on was the national attention that the three civil rights workers disappearance would ignite. Then President, Lyndon B. Johnson put the pressure on J. Edgar Hoover to get the case solved. The first FBI office in Mississippi was opened and the military bused sailors into Neshoba County to help search for the missing men.

The case became known as MIBURN, for Mississippi Burning, and top FBI Inspectors were sent to help with the investigation."

The three civil rights workers were working under an investigation request from the ACLU. The ACLU was a huge assett to the civil rights movement. The FBI was involved AFTER the three civil rights workers were killed;^]

And your experiance with the ACLU is?;^]

they are on the news all the time...do I need to be one of their poster clients to know what they are all about?

and here's an example....noway

ACLU Applauds Repeal of Anti-Immigrant Ordinance in Riverside, N.J.
The ACLU praised the Riverside, N.J., township council for voting to repeal an unlawful ordinance that would have punished landlords and employers for renting to or employing individuals it classified as "illegal" immigrants.

all the aclu can do is bring the case b4 the court

the court makes the ruling

what part of this do you not understand

well you want to show me some article that put the ACLU there cause so far what you showed me and what I found there is no mention of the ACLU....
and the FBI only started their investigation after the murder...funny I don't find that strange at all...how many murder investigations do you know of that started before the murders took place?

you seemed to have missed the point...the point, once again, was the ACLU was cheering and supporting the illegal aliens..seems to me like an American would be upset with someone supporting someone who is in the country illegally and taking a job away from an American citizen. I guess it's ok as long as it's not your job huh...

Once again I have nothing to proove to you, or anyone who buys into this anti ACLU nonsense. And the ACLU REQUESTED THE INVESTIGATION, the three civil rights workers did the investigation. Don't be lazy, at least take some time to watch the movie.

Ok, I'm done with this de de de, my rides almost here anyway;^]

Supreme Court Refuses To Review Warrantless Wiretapping Case (2/19/2008)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: media@acluorg; (212) 549-2666

Ruling Allows Executive Branch To Police Itself, Says ACLU

NEW YORK – The U.S. Supreme Court today refused to review a legal challenge to the Bush administration’s warrantless surveillance program. The case was brought by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of prominent journalists, scholars, attorneys and national nonprofit organizations who say that the unchecked surveillance program is disrupting their ability to communicate effectively with sources and clients. The court’s decision today lets stand an appeals court’s ruling on narrow grounds that plaintiffs could not show with certainty that they had been wiretapped by the National Security Agency.

The following quote can be attributed to Jameel Jaffer, Director of the ACLU’s National Security Project:

“Congress enacted the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act intending to protect the rights of U.S. citizens and residents, and the president systematically broke that law over a period of more than five years. It’s very disturbing that the president’s actions will not be reviewed by the Supreme Court. It shouldn’t be left to executive branch officials alone to determine what limits apply to their own surveillance activities and whether those limits are being honored. Allowing the executive branch to police itself flies in the face of the constitutional system of checks and balances.”

The following quote can be attributed to Steven R. Shapiro, Legal Director of the ACLU:

“Although we are deeply disappointed with the Supreme Court’s refusal to review this case, it is worth noting that today’s action says nothing about the case’s merits and does not suggest in any way an endorsement of the lower court’s decision. The court’s unwillingness to act makes it even more important that Congress insist on legislative safeguards that will protect civil liberties without jeopardizing national security.”
