OK every time I use my web cam my computer feezes up on me. Why? Does anybody know? And before you tell me I need more RAM, I know that is not the problem. I ran perfectly fin before I add RAM to it. BY again my CPU Usage sky rockets to 100% when my cam is turned on. Knowing that it is supposed to be down at like 4%. I have done the virus scan, the spy wear scans, even defragged and did a disc clean up. Heck I have even cleaned out all my temp files and my registry. I do not know what else to do. I thought adding more RAM was supposed to help things run more smoothly. Any ideas on what to do? And if I hear that it is a RAM problem one more time I am going to scream...lol.

It could be your webcam isn't the right match for your pc, don't know what else it could be. I mean if it's matches your os system and you have enough ram then all I can think of is either it doesn't work with your pc or you might need to download a new patch of some kind to help it work right.

Is all the software up to date for your webcam ?. That could be your problem, just a guess.

I would uninstall the webcam. Then disk cleanup and defragment. reboot and install again.

Whisper I think I know what the problem is .... I just had the exact same thing happen with my webcam . Could it be something in a recent Windows Update ???
I'm doing some research now .

try updating the software to your webcam. if you're running a software firewall, make sure it's not blocking your cam drivers from loading. if that doesn't work, uninstall your webcam drivers and reinstall them.

you can also try moving your cam to another USB slot, preferably one connected to your computer's case and not in a hub.

Ram problem eh, generally doenst lock a computer, lol and generally a comp wont get locked on a certain program due to ram, unless its a large program, lol.

When you mean "locked" what do you mean, unable to hit CTRL, Alt, Delete? or have to hard boot the pc to use it again? Webcam when did it stop working? Had it ever worked? Sounds like some bad software or incompatible software, or some conflicting software running in the background. Name of the webcam?
