Topic: Today sucked | |
---|---|
I went out to feed the cows and one that had just had a baby about a week ago had dies. I know they are just animals and I seel their babies for hamburger, but I really hate it when I lose one. This was one of my registered ones as well. It really sucks. Not to mention, now I have a little baby bull calf that I am going to have to bottle feed. I know, right now all you girls are going "awe, how cute" but its really a pain in the butt, and let me tell you. Feeding a calf from a bottle is not natural for the calf, you have a war on your hands everytime until he figures it out. Not only do you have to get him over his nautural fear of you, you also have to convince him to take a big rubber nipple that feels nothign like his momma in his mouth and decide to start sucking on it.
Sorry, just a little pissing and moaning. |

Interesting. I grew up on a farm and we used to bottle feed the calves all they time. They were seperated from the cow when they were a few days old...and we rarely had a problem with them taking the bottle.

Once they get used to their mommas teet its not such an easy task. Its not like its impossible, but it takes a couple of days and considering they have to have several feedings a day, it SUCKS! |
