Spirit's Realm

Upon this sullen and placid throne
I ponder the thoughts that once were known.
The music has long since died
And rivers of tears have all but dried,
Yet I rule my world so well.

In darkness, my palace lay
Deep behind the guarded gate.
No fires that burn
Can light this place,
For cold are the winds of change.

With heavy thump,
A lifeless clump,
My worries fall dead to my feet.

The box I hold
With treasures untold,
Hidden within
Are the many thoughts
Of hopes and dreams.

The last of my riches
Thus hidden in vain,
The remnants of
What keeps me sane
And bids me live from day to day.
I smile for this belongs to me.

All that I had was taken away,
Still building the kingdom
You see today.

The groundbreaking is labor at best,
I entertain at joyous request,
Yet here do I sit on a throne of gold,
Daring to live a life uncold.

Never you'll see this world gone dark
For illusion and will have cast the spark,
Thus created this dream by me.

Lost in the wonder of dazzling light,
Surrounding you in the dream I weave,
Protecting you in my hope and might,
Careful not to cause your flight,
For you are the most precious gem I see.

I know I cannot make you stay
And willingly
You can go your way,
For I am used to the bonds
That break.
I just ask a piece you'll take
Of my heart
That's been left unmade.
Please do not fear this hand of fate.

I understand you need much more
So here I stand at open door
And bid you farewell in peace.

Forever I am and always will be
A spirit in nature and faded in life
For I can be nothing more
Or less than me.
