my scripture is a little rusty, but I seem to remember something that refers to "serpant" handling.... Kind of like speaking in tongues is a "gift"... Not one that I have, and I don't think you have to speak in tongues to be a Christian....

snake handeling is cool, i mean reptiles are probably the most awesome animals out thre plus a snake it could lash out and kill you in an instant so if you are willing to take the risk why not...

are you talking about handling poisonous snakes to prove your religious fervor? Cuz in that case, count me out... there's other ways for me to prove my devotion to Christ.

Snake handling is a religious ritual in a small number of pentecostal churches in the U.S., usually characterized as rural and Holiness. Practitioners believe it dates to antiquity and quote the Book of Mark and the Book of Luke to support the practice:
And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19 what i don't get about most church folk. jesus taught acceptace, which is what is not being done. if they are truely tempting god, that's between them and god. live and let live |

It does make a difference if we are going to go by Messiah's words that Satan quoted to him..
Matt 4:5-7 5 Then doth the Devil take him to the [holy] city, and doth set him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and saith to him, 'If Son thou art of Elohim — cast thyself down, for it hath been written, that, His messengers He shall charge concerning thee, and on hands they shall bear thee up, that thou mayest not dash on a stone thy foot.' 7 Yahshua said to him again, 'It hath been written, Thou shalt not tempt Yahweh thy Elohim..' YLT The verses thier are speaking that the signs will follow if you are in a situation of danger. Not putting yourself in danger to try to prove you have the Holy Spirit. That is tempting. Which Apostle did such a thing for a show? Blessings...Miles |
