Why do ppl get so worked up over hair. When I was in Scotland, I went to
this one men's fine clothing store. One of their staff (he was about 20)
was dressed to the nines, had a pair $800 Italian leather shoes, and his
suit was perfectly tailored, BUT he had a rather tall, spiked, mohawk.
He was very polite and quite intelligent. Turns out he was their best
salesman. Know why? Cuz ppl over there don't give a shit about YOUR
hair. Your hair is NOT who you are.
Mine used to be down to my ass. My old man would get on my case about it
even when I was in my 30's!!!! He'd make rude comments about scaring old
ladies. Lemmie tell ya, the old ladies used to tell me how beautiful my
hair was and ask if they could feel it..yep..they were terrified of me
LMAO
Your hair ain't who ya are, it's just another mode of self expression.

I know thats gotta be hard on her Nerves, tryin to express who she is
but having mom freak out when she does..been there done that when I was
a kid, hats why now with my own son, I let him be who he is I don't want
him to grow up and feel lik he has to be what I want or expect him to be

Our constant need for acceptance tends to make us act like and dress
like people we are really not. She has found a crowd that she thinks
will accept her because they dress the same way. She has to learn on her
own that this does not have to be the case. The worst thing you want to
do is persecute her for this for that may cause her to rebel and it will
make things much worse for you and her. You don't have to support how
she looks, just keep it to yourself but definately support her as your
daughter and keep good communication with her so she can trust talking
to you about those things adolescence go through. You may even let her
friends come over so you can better understand them too.

Thank you for all your replys. I told her I didn't really support her
hair like that, but if she wanted to wear it like that I was not going
to condone her. And yes, she was a big hit at both birthday parties from
what I gathered. I did and have met a lot of her friends and
occasionally will take her cell phone away from her in the middle of a
conversation just to see who she is talking to and probably to aggrivate
her also. Guess I'd be lying if I said any different because all in all
from what she has had to go through with life in the past two years she
is a good girl and very smart.

well I doidn't get a chance to see the hair but really she's a child and
children are goping to experiment, as long as it's not something harmful
I don't see why not. I have a teen daughter, one fixing to be a teen and
a 9 yr old. I know I am not going to like or agree with all their
choices but you have to let them explore, but be able to provide a
safety net for them when they fall.
