Security has been getting away with this kind of stuff for years, they have different standards in security work then they do in law enforcement and even then police get away with some of the same stuff...look up skateboarding day on youtube, the cops involved in that recieved suspension. Nothing new, either revolt and stand up for yourself or take it and do nothing.

revolt, and you go to jail like you should. however, by all means follow due process and the law to get things changed for the better. And dont give me any of the rhetorical crap about it not working if you follow the law. Thats why there are so many problmes nowadays tobegin with: people not following the law.

Security officers have to follow the law same as anyone else. Yes there are some who get an attitude and think of themselves as the same as police officers, these generally don't last long. Had the officer in the news report been working under me that officer would find themselves in the unemployment line within the next hour.

So did you watch the video? Follow due process? In a small town that doesn't work, the judge knows the cop and the cop knows the judge's family so on and so forth. In a large city it can work but rarily does because once again the judge knows the cop and the cop knows the judge's family. Stuff like that event really only happen in small towns, take it from experience there is really nothing that can be done following due process. Been there, done that, they laughed at me...cute.

This could happen to any of us. Isn't time to raise our voices and make them be heard?

Although I am a defender of our police, I do think they need to be psychologically re-evaluated on a regular basis. In that line of work, you never know what might happen and make your mind snap and do something horrid.

Don't confuse Security Guards with Police Officers. They totally different and the requirements are very different. Most large Depts. do require Police applicants to take the MMPI[minnesota multiphasic personality inventory]and have every right to require retesting at anytime.I know of several Police Officers that were terminated because MMPI results indicated that there might be some psychological problems. As far as I know no security companys require this test.Generally if the security guard can find their way to work that is all that is required.
