How many people in here trust others to set you up on blind dates. I have a couple of times, but not really anymore. A co worker of mine set me up on a blind date, and the girl never showed i called and nothing, i called my co worker and nothing, then she quit 2 days later, have not heard from her since. Any of you had this happen or is it just my incredible luck?

Humm had a friend of mine and a girl he was dating set me up with her dad we all 4 went out to eat great conversation and all said he really enjoyed it and wanted to call me back. hummmm never heard from him again ohhhhhhhhhh well that is life.

My parents met on a blind date. They have been married
49 years.

Maybe we should try that, but my best friend i dont know if he knows my taste, after all when he hears me say i am sweet and innocent as a newborn baby, then he replies, "maybe Rosemary's Baby".

I used to have two very close and very well-connected female friends (they were more like my sisters, really) who were constantly introducing me to their neighbors, cousins, friends, people they worked with, people they went to school with, etc. This worked really well for me, in terms of quantity, if nothing else -- probably 85% of the people I've ever been involved with came from one of these two.

One of the nice things about it was that these were all people my friends had some knowledge of, so it wasn't like going in completely blind. I figured they weren't going to set me up with an axe murderer, at least; so in that respect, it was a lot better than trying to meet someone on line. There was a sort of a "screening" process.

Since I don't drink or go to bars, and since I tend to be something of a recluse, this just seemed like a good way to meet people at the time. The downside was that the people I met tended to be more adept at being temporary distractions than girlfriends; nice enough, but somewhat insubstantial, and ultimately tended to become overpossessive and clingy and/or amazingly boring. But I learned a lot about a lot of different people and about myself, so I think it was worth it.

My two friends ultimately got a little older, got married and had 2.4 kids; and all of their formerly single girlfriends also tended to get married and have 2.4 kids, so that's no longer a viable alternative for me.

But if I was ever in a position where I really wanted to meet new people, I would much rather have a well-connected friend than have to resort to a dating site again.

I was set up on a few blind dates... but the worst one, was my last one. A woman from work set me up with this guy... and we were all having a good time at the bar, and he got a call. He was a tow truck driver. He asked if i wanted to go along.. so I did... shortly there-after, tooling down the road, he yanks his teeth out and tosses them on the dashboard of the truck, just as we hit a corner. Well, his teeth came sliding across the dashboard and landed in my lap!!! THATS GROSS!! sorry
