You could do what this girl just did to me, she booked a room for her & her boyfriend & he already has a girlfriend, so she invited me to come stay with her for the weekend!! I declined, this just happened 10 mins ago..

Of course if it is tastefully done 
Like for example, last year I knew that the guy I lived on the same floor as my friend, so I would just randomly walk the hall ways or stop by his room to talk to him =P Didn't lead to more than friendship, but it was still a useful tactic =P Good luck!!
