The Dem's in the house look like they have grown a pair and are going to stop this crazy patriot act crap. We may take back a freedom or two. Wouldn't that be nice. The dems ride to the rescue restoring personal freedoms in America and upholding the Constitution. I didn't think they had it in them.

YES, great to get rid of the TREASONOUS Patriot Act, now we need to get rid of the WAR POWERS ACT, and the federal reserve act, and restore the Original 13 th Amendment back into the Constitution where it belongs(it was passed and never was repealed) That would get rid of all lawyers out of govt , I guess technically they would not even be allowed to run for dog catcher in your county. It seems in some copies of the Constitution ,they will even try to slip the 14th amendment into the 13 th Amendment spot(criminal)

I am glad that things are looking up.drinker

That was Barbara Streisand who said she was going to move out of the country if President Bush got re-elected.

I am still greatly anticipating her move.

i guess i never really understood why we separated democrates and republicans. It's more about the individual beliefs and standards than it is about parties. Anyhow, yay to those who are getting rid of that unconstituional patriot's act.

many, many problems would be solved if we stuck with our original constitution and weren't so bent on changing it... Some people think im a fool but i firmly believe that our forefathers really knew what they were doing.

There is also the Green Party, The Independents.

I can only state what Republicans, as a whole, believe in:

I have taken this from the website of my own Borough's Republican Party Committee:

What Do We Stand For?

Most Republicans Agree:

The Republican Party considers people capable of taking care of themselves without government interference and micro-management of their lives.

Republicans hold that most government-sponsored social welfare programs have been a disaster, not just because of their overwhelming cost, but most importantly because these programs have destroyed community, human responsibility, initiative, and hope. And government intervention has turned our inner cities into war zones where violence and drugs are rampant and civilization has broken down.

Republicans believe that socialism, although noble-intentioned, does not work. The solution to the ills caused by the welfare state is to return to understanding of our founding fathers who believed that the scope and power of government should be limited.

The founders of our great nation believed that human beings could only achieve real happiness when they were allowed to be free. Freedom means that people are permitted to make their own decisions in life without coercion from other people or the government. Freedom also means that individuals must accept the consequences of their own bad decisions and not blame their condition on others who are more successful.

The founders also believed that the free market would work its magic to create prosperity and opportunity for all who are willing to accept the challenges and responsibilities of freedom.

Most Republicans agree on the following principles:

· Free market system

· Limited government

· Low taxes and a simplified tax code

· Less regulations

· Rule of law

· Guarantee of private property

· Individual freedom

· Personal responsibility

· Strong national defense

· Local control

· Traditional values

· Tort reform (Reducing frivolous lawsuits)

· Equal opportunity for all without quotas

· Welfare reform

· Quality education with parental choice

· Constitution

· Bill of Rights

This is why I am a Republican, I am also a conservative.

My guess is that he was referring to offhand comments by non-public figure Republicans. Such as those posted online in forums here http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?referrerid=112033&t=7212061 and here http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=549547.

Presumably these comments are made by extremely ill-informed Republicans, since Canada is far more liberal than the US laugh

One has to be ill informed to not know how liberal Canada is.

I will stay in the good 'ol USA and simply stand up for what I believe in, no matter who is in office, who has the majority, etc.

SIR: Is this what you are referring to?

DEMOCRAT CONGRESSMEN LEAVE TOWN, LEAVE AMERICA UNGUARDED

House Democrat leaders hold up legislation that protects our country from terrorist attack

HARRISBURG —Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Robert A. Gleason, Jr. was appalled that Democrats in Congress are blocking a vote on bipartisan Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) legislation allowing the current protection to expire this Saturday at midnight.

“Maintaining the security of our country should be a bipartisan issue, however, it appears that the Democrat-controlled Congress would rather play politics than pass legislation that protects American lives,” Gleason said. “Rather than allowing members of Congress to vote on new FISA legislation that earned support from members of both parties in the U.S. Senate, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and her band of liberals decided to leave town without taking action. Democrats have chosen to skip town, allow current FISA legislation to expire at midnight this Saturday, and don’t appear to care that they have weakened the security of our nation.

“I hope that members of Pennsylvania’s Democrat Congressional delegation, Congressmen Paul Kanjorski, Chris Carney, Jason Altmire, Patrick Murphy, Joe Sestak, Tim Holden, John Murtha, Chaka Fattah, Bob Brady, Mike Doyle, and Allyson Schwartz, are able to sleep soundly on Saturday night after the current FISA legislation expires knowing that their failure to act on this issue has risked the lives of every Pennsylvania family.

“They have abandoned Pennsylvania values in favor of D.C. politics. One of the most basic duties of any public servant is to protect their constituents from harm. In this case, our Democrat Congressmen have failed to serve the people they were elected to represent. The Democrat Party and Nancy Pelosi care more about protecting the rights of terrorists than protecting the lives of Pennsylvanians.

“While President George W. Bush and House Republican leaders promised to stay in Washington, D.C. to ensure that new FISA legislation passed, Democrats scurried out-of-town to enjoy a long weekend. I would encourage Pennsylvanians to call the following Congressmen in their district offices today and encourage them to go back to Washington and pass updated FISA legislation. Pennsylvania’s Democrat Congressional delegation must demand that their Party leadership go back to work and pass updated FISA legislation immediately.”

Please contact the following members at their district offices:
Congressman Paul Kanjorski – 570-825-2200
Congressman Chris Carney – 570-585-9988
Congressman Jason Altmire – 724-378-0928

Congressman Patrick Murphy – 215-826-1963

Congressman Joe Sestak – 610-892-8623

Congressman Tim Holden – 717-234-5904

Congressman John Murtha – 814-535-2642

Congressman Chaka Fattah – 215-387-6404

Congressman Bob Brady – 215-389-4627

Congressman Mike Doyle – 412-261-5091

Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz – 215-517-6572

Gleason concluded, “The Republican Party of Pennsylvania believes Americans deserve better.”
