Topic: DaVinci Truth or Myth??

OK, here's my pragmatic, mundane view of the whole thing. The man who
wrote "DaVinci" certainly had done his homework. The cults, symbols, etc
do exist. But all must remember that the Bible was written by men who
had received "inspriation" from God. The New Testament was written by
MML,andJohn, over a hundred years after Jesus' death. All ear to mouth
'cause Jesus probably couldn't read or write. He wanted it that way.
The dear Dominican nuns and priests who educated me failed to tell me
all about this. They were too worried about prolonged kissing. HAHA The
only thing from my Catholic education that has stuck with me is "It's OK
to doubt; deny and you're in big trouble.

OH, and by the way, Jesus was a devout JEW! They all drank wine cause
the water in that time wasn't fit for human consumption. And how in the
hell did Leo know what was on the table at the last supper. Maybe I
missed that part. THINK ABOUT IT!

you make a good point sushi about the table setting... aparently, if I
understand correctly, there are 'paintings' of the time that were redone
by actual artists commissioned BY the church... DaVinci was asked to
recreate from those 'paintings' AND from the various 'gospels'
associated with that time..

to my understanding.. Jesus didn't want to become known as a Scholar...
he wanted to remain low profiled so as to look more the 'mere mortal
man' to mingle & gain the respect of ordinary men

One final question. Why is it when we read about Roman history of that
time, we tend to take it as fact, and yet ANOTHER history from the same
time frame is considered to be "legend" or "myth"? I mean, even if MML
and John had been written 100 years or so after Christ died, we believe
stuff that was written about Rome and its people many HUNDREDS of years
after the fact. If we base our arguments on that ONE premise, then ALL
the history of the ancients would be bullshit

Sushi: John Brown didn't do his homework all that well. There are huge
errors in his Paris museum escape (Windows that don't exist, streets a
lot closer than they are, traffic running in wrong direction, entire
buildings and highways moved), his historical facts (those brass plaques
were not put into the streets at the time he states but much later) are
off. This after stating on the very first page that ALL FACTS ARE
HISTORICALLY ACCURATE. There are also errors in his historical facts on
the Knights Templar. Might I suggest the reading of another book 'The Da
Vinci Code Decoded' (I think I have the name right) where these and
other errors are explained.

Public: The reason we can accept the history of the Roman Empire as fact
is that the Romans were meticulous record keepers. Right down to
scribing imperfections in slaves, a soldiers wages to calculate his
pension (Legionaires had a pension), census information (reason for Mery
and Joseph to travel in first place, and the mundane menus, store /
restaurant supplies, who was fighting at the Circus Maximus. Information
from the Romans is not lacking and written as it happened.

yer right Karma, but I was only using the Romans as an example because
they were involved with the same time frame as Christ. There is so much
ancient history that is accepted as fact because of archaeoligical
findings and some guesswork extrapolated from those findings. But more
than once, this same science has proven certain Bible stories to be
true, but, for some reason, because it's helps to confirm a little more
of the Bible, it's gets swept under the carpet.
Science has even come forward to show HOW the plagues of Egypt could
have happened in Moses time. Not only that, but each plague that
started, needed the previous plague to enable the next one. Has ANYONE
seen this??? It all makes perfect sense too, BUT, does that make it any
less of a miracle? People seem to get hung up that once science "figures
out" how certain miracles happened, those miracles get relegated to the
mundane. I've said this before. SOMETIMES, the miracle isn't the event,
but the TIMING of that event

sushi why was the water not fit to drink? Nature has a way of purifying
it's water supply I am sure it was alot more drinkable than what we have
today and we pull water right from the ground and drink it with no
filtration whatsoever in alot of places.

If you've ever read with your heart the entire Word of God,
you would know that you don't follow the doctrines of men
or devils, you follow HIM and His Word. As for preachers,
you will know them by their fruit. If it doesn't line up with
God's Word, you're in the wrong place. God isn't about rituals,
ceremonies, or traditions. God is about relationship. Will you put your
trust in His creation or in HIM? Christianity is not
a religion, it is a way of life. It's the Way of the Master.
You do err not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God.
