my daughter is the reason im alive, i have had dark thoughts for a while, and everytime i start thinking of something stupid, i think about her, and what it would do to her not to have me around. i cant do that to my angel. shes my heart and she holds it in her hands.

No particular story comes to mind but I'll tell ya, my boo is the reason for everything I do. 11 years ago, I was told I'd be dead by the time he entered kindergarten, I took one look at his face and said No I won't. And I'm still here. He's the best thing I ever did in my life and the best thing I ever will do. flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

K.....I will go first. My son is 19 months old now. Throughout his pregnancy he was perfect in all aspects. I have ultrasounds of him giving me the UT longhorn sign, which he knew his grandpa is an Aggie. He even gave me the middle finger once, must have been the supreme pizza he got fed.....lol. So on July 19, 2006 my son Acen was ready to make his first appearene into this world of sin, truth, pain, and comfort. As im video taping his birth and helping his mother through the labor I notice something wrong. Without notice the doctor grabs my sons head and pulls him out of his mothers womb. My little man was limp, with no sound. His color was an awful blueish purplish. The doctor immediatly cut his embillical cord and unwrapped it twice from around his neck. It was so tight, that his nech was the size of his neck bone. The doctors ran him over to a table were they took 6 minutes to revive him. After that we immediatly went to the NICU (newborn intensive care unit). Acen fought for his life everyday for 2 months in the nicu. He would seizure and quit breathing. Over and over the doctors would have to revive him. If he had only 9 lives, well i think they were up. I finally had the doctors take him off his meds (phenobarbitol) a narcotic which shuts your system down. They were giving him more than the max dosage. They diagnosed my son with epilepsy. One day he had 12 seizures. It was the worst 2 months of my life. I transferred hospitals and had them ween him off the meds. In two weeks he was on his way home. It only took another month before he didnt have to be on a moniter 24/7. He has been perfect ever since. The doctors say he could have other seizures at anytime in his future. But for the grace of God he is still here, and thriving. To see what my little guy has already over came in his short life is just astounding to me. His strentgh has been my inspiration. Acen Joel is my inspiration in life, and my pride and joy. If you wanna see pictures of my miracle from God, check out my profile. God bless you.

Wow, amazing story! And I'm so glad it had a happy ending. Children are much tougher and stronger than we give them credit for. flowerforyou flowerforyou

First of all JDO your son is just too cute, he got a big AAAAWWWWW out of me and I'm just not the go gushy over babies type of person. I am lucky enough to be the mother of two wonderful teenage boys who are quickly turning into young men. They have been the rock in my life for the past 14 months as I have struggled through leaving their increasingly verbally abusive father, getting through a nasty divorce, and trying to realize that it just might be possible for me to choose more wisely next time. It is a joy to my heart that God gave them the best traits from myself and their father and that they both have such level headed, even tempered personalities. What makes it an even bigger miracle is because I was never supposed to be able to have children, and to this day my OB/Gyn tells me that God gave them to me as a gift, because he has no explanation of how someone with only one ovary who was already entering menopause at the ripe old age of 24, yes you are reading that right 24, managed to get pregnant not just once, but twice within an 18 month period of time. My youngest son, John, almost died at birth. They had to do an emergency C-section when I was 7 months pregnant because he was already so large that he was putting pressure on my heart and lungs to the point that I was passing out. So there he was two months early weighing almost 8 pounds with tubes and wires and oxygen. Since I was unconscious when he was born I did not get to see him at the time, but I saw pictures later and he also came out of the womb completely blue. His lips, fingers and toes were purple. God and the wonderful doctors and nurses kept him alive through those first 48 before I was even allowed to see him. I remember them telling me I could touch him only on the sole of his little foot, but when I did that he jerked and quit breathing and his heart stopped, I was terrified. But 48 hours after that I was leaving the hospital with him because once he got used to me being there touching him he made a remarkable turn around! Since my mom was in the medical profession and we had a home health nurse visiting every day I got to keep him at home. I fed him with a bottle that looked like a giant hypodermic with this tube that went down his throat, and my mom or the nurse would take blood samples to the hospital everyday. But now he is seventeen years old, 6'1" tall, and weighs around 135 pounds. The only thing I have to watch for now is keeping his body fat at a high enough level. Because that is another gift of their fathers that God blessed both of my boys with, they eat like horses and can't gain weight. My oldest, who is 18 and fixing to go in the Army is almost 5'7" now and he only weighs between 110 and 115.
