YUP PUT HIM ON HIS TUMMY ANYWAYS MY DAUGHTER DIDENT LIKE IT EITHER BUT AND SHE CRIED BUT SHE GOT USED TO IT. JUST MAKE SURE YOU PLAY WITH THEM THE WHILE THEY ARE DOING IT. OR YOU CAN GET THEIR FAV TOY AND PUT THEM ON THEIR TUMMY AND PUT THE TOY JUST OUT OF REACH THAT HELPES SOMETIMES TOO.

I've raised and still am doing it with 9 chidren. (ok, only 5 girls left at home...whew!) They NEED tummy time. As for the cold, tummy time is good. Let him throw his fit. He'll get used to it with a little time on tummy a couple of times a day. He needs to develop his crawling muscles.

He's not hurt, but he will continue to cry if you pick him up every time. It hurts us more than it hurts them. A few minutes every couple of hours will get him out of the crying stage and he'll learn to love it when he can finally crawl. THEN you'll be wishing he wasn't!

I agree with Blanca....let him throw his fit(which is good for his lungs too) and he will get over it!!! Its called conditioning!!! And guess what he wont hate you for it later either....LOL!!!! Good luck girl!!!!

My two cents...don't push it too much. If he WAS crawling, there's obviously not a physical problem so he'll move along when he's ready too. Keep trying it, especially the suggestion about putting his favorite toy in front of him. Some kids just don't like to crawl, go right to pulling themselves up and walking. They grow much too quickly so enjoy every stage. flowerforyou Kinda sad that we can't wait for them to walk and talk so we can tell them to sit down and shut up. laugh laugh

i'm going to dissent. i really don't believe in allowing infants to just cry. if he's eight months old, chances are he can roll over...and tummy time just isn't that important anymore. it WAS, when he was around three months...but an eight month old just doesn't need it, especially if he can already crawl.

have you asked your pediatrician's opinion? it may just be a case of him not wanting to stare at the floor...there are more interesting things above him. a cool toy might inspire him to spontaneously play on his belly.

Take your child to your pediatrician ASAP! A child who regresses on his developemental markers, especially after an illness, should be evaluated. Your gut instinct is telling you something is wrong...listen to it. The worst that will happen is your baby will have a really good check up and you will know he is fine the worst is he could have a correctable reason for this backslide in developement and you ignore it.
