when they landed on the moon? I DO I DO. I was 9 and we got to stay up
late as they walked around 11:00 as I remember. Neil Armstrong was the
first to walk on the moon, Who was the second? who was the last?

.... Saturn v rocket. Capable of launching 260,000 lbs into earth orbit,
or 100,00 lbs on a lunar trajectory.

I remember waking up the morning after and seeing it on the news. I
cannot remember who was second though.

I remember watching my mom cry... asking her why... and she said that a
very nice man was just shot on the TV and that the world is going to not
recover.... it was JFK

2nd... Buzz Aldrin
last... Gene Cernan- Apollo 17
The Grumman Company which built the Lunar Module offered anyone a
$10,000.00 reward if they could figure out a way to lighten the LM by 1
ounce. This was in the late 60s when a new car cost $2800.00
There is a guy in Kingsley, near here who won a nationwide competition
for the design of the locking latch for between Apollo and the LM.
(Pat Paulsen.)
My buddy from the Buckley old engine show was a machinist for NASA iN
THE 60s.
The moon shot was a national effort, not just some guys in Florida,
but people from all over the country in nearly every town participated
in it. I remember the era though I WAS A KID THEN. The saturn v/ Apollo
stack had over 4 million parts.

T I think the one you probably remember being shot was Robert! I had the
same memory of my mom being upset, but when I checked the dates I came
to the conclussion that it was Bobby!

All I remember about JFK was that his son and wife were standing beside
the casket on TV. I would have been 2+ yrs old at the time.

Yep and you me and t are about the same age!

Rambill, I was born in Melbourne Florida, and I ended up here in NC
because my dad worked for the RCA cooperation at the cape in the early
days of the space program> When they started bnuilding dishes like the
one that movie is about that they built in Australia, My dad came here
and aided in the costruction of one in Rosman NC, They were used so
there was not a lapse in communications with the space flights, before
sattelites were put into orbit!

I remember the ocassions, not the dates. JFK, MLK, RFK all grest men and
all assasinated. Late '60's, early '70's.
Lunar landings....Gemini - Apollo. Not much was publicized that I can
remember, only what the government wanted you to read or see.....
Besides, in that era the information highway was not born yet.
