I recently relocated to the coast and my car is subject to aircare? Have to pass it before I can re-insure my car.

I'm concerned and have been asking around - tips on passing, etc.

So I've heard make sure you take it for a drive first, use high octane gas, and someone even suggested using an address outside of the lower mainland noway

Have any of you had to do aircare? How strict is it? If my car is a 2000 Honda should I be THAT worried?

Its more the unknownn factor and not knowing how prepared I need to be to pass...

Any tips..advice?

Roxanne

check the exhaust system, buy a new air filter, and you can also put something into the gas tank....I forget what it is. Ive also changed my oil before.

some sort of liquid to make the car run better....I can't remember what it is but if you go to a garage, you can prolly buy it there.

You talking about the emission drive clean? Go to Canadian Tire and buy a can of stuff I think it's called Sure Pass, pour that in the tank and take your car for a good ride on the highway before you take it in for the test. Good Luck.

make sure ya change oil, and with full tank of gas add small container of "mythol hydrate". give car good run and go through with car engine temp normal. should do fine.

Thanks - is mythol hydrate an active ingredient in the stuff Ibought?

Aircare -- yes, I'm all about being environmentally conscious and doing my part but I would like to know if it really is making a difference. And ins't "air pollution" caused by oh so many other factors? *shaking head*

*mumble*

So I;ll go and follow the rules tomorrow - and pay the consequence if my cars not pure enogh for the Vancouver steets laugh

Ok - rant over

THAT IS SIMPLE

JUST INSURE UR CAR FROM OUTSIDE THE LOWER MAINLAND WHERE THERE IS NO AIR CARE AND THEY CANT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.

Methyl hydrate is gas line anti-freeze. What's that supposed to do?laugh

A well maintained vehicle shouldn't have any problems passing the Air care. If they give you any grief, let me know.flowerforyou

yes yur right kid, methyl hydrate is a gas line antifreeze, and also runs the engine hotter then normal, not good to use all the time, but our aircare is a joke n cash grab. i have seen cars fail big time, add that and bingo it works.!!

Alcohol actually has less heat value than gasoline or diesel. It won't make it run hotter.smokin

Hey you! first of all? Are you cute? And second did you go yet?
I have a very effective yet inexpensive way to pass the test.I lived out there for 15 years and drove old bombs trust me.What you do is ad about half a bottle of 99% methal hydrate into your gas tank at a full tank,Next you go to Canadian tire and get a bottle of this glug you put into your oil(bardahl No smoke) drive it at about 100 km per hour for @ least 20-30 mins then enter the mighty gates of air care! Good luck!! Please reply back if you receive my advice thanx. Oh if it's a 2000 honda and running alright it should pass anyway.Try and pass first,They allow you to fix your own car so do what I recommended then pay the big $30 again.

"Hey you! first of all? Are you cute? And second did you go yet? "

 Am I cute? No, I'm a troll; I was asked by admin to NOT post a photo

Did I go yet?
Yes, sir. No, problem. It took longer to wait in line than it did to do the "test" They just did it, went into a booth, handed me a paper and said "there you go"
Safe for another year.

Thanks for the advice, innerge
