I was wondering what people of my age thought of younger people looking for companionship on a site such as this?

Well, if they're much younger than me, Dateline would be here.

Do you think that young people like myself shouldn't find love? I like to meet people from across the country because I can't meet them in person. If something works out then I can move but for you to ask that question shows how selfish you are.

why should you care? just a curiosity ?

Everyone is looking for companionship or love or friendship or whatever their hearts desire. Age should not matter. Everyone deserves to be happy.

It's just that I've read alot of forum's complaining that a older person looked at a younger person's profile and it made them uncomfortable. Also, I was thinking that when I was 20 somthing I didn't really have to go to a website to look for compainionship. It just sort of happened.

Not all of the young people on here are looking for a relationship. I myself am just looking for new friends because I like new people. But still.. there's nothing wrong with looking for love. If all else fails, why not?

i dont think he is being selfish. its more of a generational thing. when i was 18-20 there was no online dating. we went out and met ppl. and im only 36. it must be weird for someone old enough to be the parents of some of the ppl on here. there is a different mind set as you get older. i dont think he meant any disrespect, as i said, things were just different when he was your age. hope this helps.

To each his own whatever floats your boat. Just be happy on this site we can't tell how old a person is till we click on their profile so if someone hits on you that you don't like all you have to do is say NO!!!!

Times were different back when you and I were 20- they were easier and safer and freer. just more innocent. Its more difficult to connect nowadays so these sites are a good resource

When I was 20, I met dozens of people through friends. (Now all those people are married and boring.) But not everybody has that option. I figure this is just one way -- out of many hypothetical possibilities -- for people to meet someone. It makes no difference to me how old they are.

As for the younger ones who complain about older people looking at their profiles -- well, it's a public website, so if you don't want people looking, don't post it. Because if it's up, people -- all kinds of people, old and young and whatever else you want to discriminate by -- are going to look at it. If people want to be ageists, then why post a profile on a site with so many creepy old people who might actually look at it?

Other than the ageists, I think it's a great thing for more young people to be here. I only hope they have better luck here than I did....

When we were going up in the 70's how did you make friends? Went and met them. If a younger person wants to be they have every right to do so, after all it is "Just Say Hi" is it not??? I have meet a lot of cool people here. If they are uncomoftable then maybe they should should post a profile or picture? If they do not wish contact with older persons then they should use the settings provided bu the fine purveyors of this site. This is a cool site and I am for one glad it is here. Regaurdless of age every one has a right to be here as long aas they are of legal age.
