First, talk to your landlord and let them know what's going on. They have to go by the rules, but they can't work with you if they don't know the situation. Then, ask your family and friends if they can help out. Those payday loan places will screw you big time. Try temp agencies that pay daily (check out their websites, alot of them will tell you) to get money pronto. Your profile says you don't have kids, so you wouldn't qualify for any cash assistance through the state. You'd maybe qualify for some other assistance, but email me if you want to know more about that...

If the paperwork for the divorce has already been filed then you may be able to go after him legally...if not, most likely you are out of luck there. Either way, it doesnt help you with rent this coming month though. I would definetly check with goverment agency's to see if you qualify for emergency assistance and with churches, salvation army, united way, etc as well. Good luck to you with this!

i work in outreach. most of those places will help but they will want you to work out a budget sheet to prove how if they help you this month, that you wont be right back in there. they are to help not support. you will have to get a job. your profile says opening your own business which i dont think is wise in your situation. not at this moment. its tough, i know...walked in them shoes and not too long ago. do contact the organizations in your area. sometimes they will work together to help you. also seek spousal support is another good idea. good luck

Definetly talk to the landlord as well...you might be surprised how they would be willing to work with you if you have been a good tenent.

You're awfully young, is moving back with your parents for a little bit an option until you get back on your feet?

it really depends on how far the divorce has gone through, if he or you filed and you are LEGALLY seperated, and he took the money from the account that was meant for bills you can report it the money stolen, and the bank will reimburse you. However if no paperwork was filed they have a few places that offer assistance for things like this. You can also talk to your landlord and ask for an extension and explain the situation depending on the landlord sometimes they will accept a small deposit and let you make it up later. However if your husband was military at all that is a different story...(i can help there as well) just email me. Hope that helps.

also FYI i am also a property manager and yes talk to the landlord. there are procedures if they choose to evict they must follow. they will try to get you out by bullying or make yu think you have to go when in reality they cant force it. it will give you time to find some other alternative. they first must post the 3,7,10 day right to pay on your door or hand serve it. depends on your state how many days. then if you do not make an arrangement with them, they will have to file in court and wait for the court date to be set. you must respond to the court papers in order to stop the eviction. if you do not the judge can order an immediate eviction. most times the judge will order a 30 day if you respond.

But they have a choice whether or not to start eviction procedures, right? That could totally go work in your favor!

of coure by talking to your landlord they may make an arrangement with you so that they will not evict. the judge will not decide in your favor if rent is due. he may allow you a little time to get out but wont stop the eviction.

talk to your landlord. I am a landlord I always tell me tenants that if they have a problem to talk to me. I do my best to work with them especially if they are good tenants. Be prepared to answer the question: When can you have the money? And then make sure you have the money buy whatever date you and your landlord agree upon.

call your local goverment offices, they should be able to point you in the right direction as to where can help you. I would start with your state representitive, their office should be able to help you out with phone numbers of who to call. I'm not sure where you are, but here in IL, we have township goverments that offer emergency assistance. they can't help you right away, but sometimes they can talk to you landlord and say we will be helping, and postpone your due date. There is pleny of help out there, you just have to know where to call.

Someone mentioned churches. they may not be able to help you with rent, but they may offer food baskets, or something similar to help you out with food to minimize that cost, and hopefully you can put that money towards your rent. I would also talk to you landlord and see if maybe you can work something out with them.

I hope things work out for you!
