I sit here and wonder, I don’t know
Day after day, I’m getting old. Life was grand once upon a time When I flew my bird in the sky. Soaring free among the clouds, To a hot LZ... I’m inbound. As I approach you pop smoke I see it now on final approach. The battle rages all around, I have no cover from the ground I knew exactly what I’d fine My destiny is never blind. They load my bird with their men Screaming in pain till the end. It’s just my job, I’m sent to do Just so that I can rescue you. We fly at night and in the day We even fly in the rain. For when the call comes in for a dust-off flight You’ll see me standing at the head of the line To fly again every chance I get Bring back the wounded and the dead. Now I sit and wonder why... I know I saved many lives...... |
