Topic: The Marx Brothers... | |
---|---|
Okay so I'm not even sure how many people on here know who the Marx Brothers were or how many have ever seen any of their movies...BUT...
I thought it would be cool if some of us that know and love them could give a few favorite quotes, scenes, or movies from them...oh and if you are going to try and compare the stooges to the brothers...plese don't...the stooges weren't even close to being as funny as the marx brothers... anyways i guess i will kick this off and hopefully we will have some more people follow suit! one of my favorite scenes is when Groucho is a professor and of course he's spewing out his ingeniuous quips etc. Then Chico and Harpo are in class messing with him and it ends up turing into a huge spit ball fight... |

Comedy doesn't get any better than the Marx Brothers. Some people ask " If you are such a fan, then who is your favorite?"
After years of deep thought on the subject, and any true fan will agree, one just cannot answer that question. Remove any of the brothers from the mix(alas poor Gummo) and, well, its just not the same. Now, most people know Groucho better because of his game show and many television appearances before his death, but get the rest of the gang together and you have a magic that can't ever be duplicated. As for favorite moments or quotes...hmmm...I think that the incorporation of their former vaudeville acts really made them what they were. For instance, the song" Everyone Says I Love You" that re-occurs in Horse Feathers, and each of the brothers' performance and individual representation of the song, adding their own, personal flavor. Zeppo's "straight man" version kicks it off, and well...just see the movie if you haven't already. |

I simply adore the Marx's brothers, If the cable station runs any of their movies I will program, tape, tivo, just to make sure I can laugh my azz off and it's a great way to relax after a hard day of dealing with people and their stuff......thanks for reminding me. |
