Animals are no different from humans in a spiritual sense.
No question about it in my faith (Pantheism) I once had a blind professor when I was taking a psychology class. He had a seeing-eye-dog that would sleep at the base of his desk while he lectured. I’ll never forget the lecture when he was stating that animals don’t have the capacity to dream. He didn’t know it, but his seeing-eye-dog was experiencing a dream at that very moment. The dog was totally asleep and it’s was having rapid-eye-movement that you could tell by just looking at it’s closed eyelids. It was also going through slight ‘running’ motions with all for of it’s legs. Just slight movements but enough that you could tell that this dog was dreaming of running somewhere. The legs were moving in a perfect running motion (just slightly but in perfect timing for a run) I sat right in the front row no more than 3 feet from the large German Shepard. If that dog wasn’t dreaming I’ll eat my hat. Spiritually animals are no differnet from humans as far as I’m concerned. We are just animals. We evolved from lower animals. That’s what we are. We are just highly evolved animals. Period. We are MAMMALS! In case anyone hasn’t noticed. Not all that far removed from Dogs when you stop and think about it. They are MAMMALS too! People who don’t believe we are animals must really be living in denial. |

Hi everyone I feel they DO have souls because they griev the loss of their family & friends ( I know horses do ) and I think it's just human arrogance to believe less. I was watching a television documentary once about the killing of black bears in the U.S. to supply the aphrodesiac market in China. It seems they think that the potients made from drying & grinding the bears liver will help them be sexually potent.
Anyways, the documentary portrayed this lady interviewer following a bear hunter in North Carolina around while he was doing his grizzly business of killing, gutting, & taking the poor animal's body parts to a central location where they were sold wholesale to be shipped. At one point during the end of the interview she asked the hunter (a tobacco chewing good ol boy) "don't you think it might be wrong to kill these bears since you don't believe, as the Chinese do, that there is any truth to the belief about their livers actually being an aphrodesiac ? " his answer was that " hell no, it ain't wrong, those bears don't have no souls" as he said those chilling words, the camera pans to the gory remains of the slaughtered bears and shows him spitting out a big mouthful of tobacco juice onto them. Now I ask you folks...who is the one that doesn't have a soul ? sorry all...this one hits too close to home for me |
