It's known as the "Red Ring of Death", it's a known issue. You have to contact them and send it in for repair, which they do for free. I had to do it.

first what ya need to do is check that the red yellow and white cords are in the right place then make sure all yur plugs are plugged in tight and then make sure its set on the right channel if it needs one
|

my friends xbox360just quit with three ringsd of death and you gotta get repair box/ order from mircosoft they will repair free if its within the 90 day warranty ,if not its $65.00 to get it fixed contact them at www.xbox360.com/support and input its serial number to see if warrantys in affect

nah not really lol , could be worse i guess , i could have bought more , but thank god for warrenties :D

Thanks everyone. On the circle button 3 of 4 red lights are on and the xbox will not do anything.

Xbox 360 now working. Had three red lights on circle button. This was recomended to me and it worked!!!! After removing the hard driver, leave the X Box on and wrap it up in three towels for 20 minutes. Replace hard drive and it worked for me.
