Has anyone out there read the book "Into The Wild," seen the movie, or heard of Chris McCandless or Alexander Supertramp?
I'm dying to talk to someone who has ASAP! happy
Let me know all of your opinions and if you know anyone who has been to the bus!

Sweet! Any insight to your opinion on why he went there? Oh and do you know anyone that's been to the bus?

Only know one person
who's been to Alaska
and she didn't go
to the bus.

I guess the reason
he went there is
to see if he could
'rough it' up there.

I thought the episode
with the moose was
very powerful.

He knew about smoking
wild meat, but somehow
couldn't pull it off.

I think that was
the part of the
story when things
really began to
take a turn for
the worst.

True dat.
Man I would love to go there, but I just think it would be strange. I met someone on here who was from Anchorage, but he'd never heard of any of it.
Gosh the movie was so powerful but I think a more experienced actor would have done the trick. Chris in the movie was made out to be slightly more immature than I pictured him in the book.

On the contrary, I think
a relatively unknown actor
is just the one for this part.

If they had used a well-known
actor, you would have identified
more with the parts that actor
played and his general mannerisms.

Chris in the book and the movie
was both immature and naiive.

He destroyed all the money
his parents gave him and
then thought he could
just live off the land.

That's immature and naiive.

He rejected long-term friendship
and love due to his wanderlust.

I'm not saying he wasn't bold
in some of the things he did,
but a lot of it was foolhardy
and he didn't plan enough for
what was to come.

Eh, I think that was some of the excitement in it. I mean he lived the way he wanted to. When he died, he had lived really enjoying the last part of his life. How many of us can say we did that?

Before he died
he was in agony,
so I don't think
he was enjoying it.

And he had a short life.

did u not read his final message?
"i have led a good life, etc..."
idk to me he did what too many ppl dont

I forgot that part.

I suppose he did
since he experienced
so many things other
people don't.

But that movie
was kind of like
Blair Witch, meaning
that if you live
vicariously like
that, you pay
a terrible price
in the end.
