The media is a differant story and a differant blame, but where would universal health care be if Kucinich hadn't have pushed the issue for all these years? Now it's one of the top issues;^]

Universal health care. Oy, isn't anybody looking at Canada right now? You never know how much something costs, til you start giving it away. There are people in some cities in Canada that have to wait 6 months just to see a doctor about something, there aren't enough doctors there to cover the load. Why aren't there enough doctors? Because Canada doesn't pay them a good wage. So if we get universal healthcare in the states, god help us all.

Why does universal health care have to be an exact replica of canadas? Besides, most canadians I've talked to have said otherwise. medicaid and medicare provide pretty good service, I see no reason a tax based system couldn't work;^]

Well you're giving it away for free, so it'll be like the Canadians. And quite a few Canadian friends I have, come over the border to go to American hospitals, because the have no choice. Its a downward spiral really. You have no job, here's welfare. Have no heathcare, here's free healthcare. Have no freedom of choice, that's because it was taken from you.

Sure. As long as it isn't in the hands of the Federal government. They can't seem to get anything right.

Exactly. Social Security would be fine, if both parties stopped raiding it. Just imagine a huge pile of money sitting in the Universal Health care fund, they'd have a field day.

Because, why should doctors, (good ones anyway), stay in Canada when they can come here and get rich while robbing and milking us blind!

Do you know anything about medicaid/ medicare? There's plenty of choices within the program, choose your plan, choose your doctor, choose your treatment, etc etc etc. The only real bad thing is that it doesn't cover dental. I know too many parents who won't let their kids play sports because they can't afford the hospital bills when one of them gets hurt. Health care should be paid by taxes in my humble, to only look at "free" and say that means an exact replica of canadas system is to ignore the fine details that go into such a thing. It can work;^]

Better Question!

Why is this country so screwed up?

Because people keep electing idiots (like Bush), instead of someone that thinks, acts, and talks about the same problems they do everyday. Someone that actually has a plan, in writing, and the common sense and dedication to do something about it!

Vote John Edwards, and quit chasing after fantasies like Kunich and Ron Paul!!

Only because the HMO's in States come up here to get them. They also target nursing students. With moving allowances, hiring bonuses etc. Could be because ours are better trained. At least that's the excuse used for hiring them here.

Universal Health care has worked for hundreds of years in the military, and works well in Japan.

It works well in Canada and most of Europe too. You just keep falling for the AMA's propoganda and lies!!

Being free isn't a cause it's really not free, it's paid for in taxes. We're already paying for it but we're not getting it;^]

So tax everything, make it so its not profitable for anyone to work in the states. You think we're shipping jobs overseas now, just wait until we get universal health care. You can't give something away and it not to cost way more than anybody ever thought. Hell, social security was only supposed to last a few years and they sunk that into a huge hole. How would you like free health care, that costs way more than it would if it weren't free? The problem is, the people that don't have health care are either not willing to work or can't work. There are plenty of jobs that people can get that offer ample healthcare, but suggesting that people actually work for something is becoming a thing of the past. Why work if you can have everything given to you?

Hell Los Angeles already has Universal Health Care (with all the illegals) and look at all the hospitals they're closing.
