Topic: What does a Christian woman look for in a man? | |
---|---|
I know this 'what do women look for in a man' question is asked at least once a week here and at least 5 times a day in yahoo answers and I know the answers to THAT general question no doubt, but what are the traits that a Christian woman look for in a man BESIDES the things EVERY other woman looks for?
I've often heard the "must love God more than me" but what are rest? |

I hope you get the answers you're looking for.. interesting statement, "I don't think I'm as Christian as you're looking for to answer this question" Same as saying "I dont think I'm as human as you" |

Pray to god you find someone with a steadfast faith - and don't look at me, I don't do that anymore.

Um not sure how that can be compared but if that's how you see it... You made specific statement about Christian women vs. every other woman.. I'm thinking I fall into the "every other woman" category WHICH has nothing to do with you being more HUMAN than I...

Actually, if I have to choose one or the other, sign me up with the animals. I've never had a Golden Retriever tell me I was going to hell! |

Talk about stereotyping!
I haven’t met two Christians yet who actually agree with each other on their religious beliefs much less have the same expectations in life or for what they want in a partner. I too have seen personal profiles where women are demanding a ‘Christian man’. Every time I see those I just shake my head because I personally know a lot of non-Christian men who would make much better husbands and fathers than a lot of Christian men I know. So I think those women are losing chances for some really great potential lifemates. I think it’s pretty sad when religion can actually destroy the potential for love. Seems to me there is something inherently evil in that. How can something that supposedly has to do with God actually get in the way of love???? It’s just a self-destructive form of bigotry. But Christians aren’t the only ones. Jews have a tendency to only marry other Jews, and so on. I wouldn’t be able to live with anyone who is overly religious in any form. The simple fact is that we would be living in two differnet worlds. I would be living in the here and now, and she would be living in her future (i.e. have her eyes on the afterlife as being what’s more important). I’d prefer to have someone who is actually living in this life with me. Besides if she already has a partner in God then she’d be cheating on him to marry me anyway! She should become a nun if she really believes what she claims to believe! |

This is my greatest 'beef' with the word 'love'.
If there is a parent out there who can 'honestly' say I love God more than my children, then I can only pity the children and the abuse they will suffer for, the rest of their lives. Of course it does make a good circular reference point for the continuence of a religion. For any child who believes they can only be loved sufficiently by God, will be emotionally crippled and will have no other choice but to look to God for the love they are not given. Or they will rebel and in so doing, leave their family and may never realize the comfort that faith (in anything) can bring. How does one make a list of those they love and then attempt to put prioritize it. What would/could ever change that list? Is love not supposed to be forever, unconditional? Would two people, choosing to be life partners, not work together. If someone I love is in need, would not my partner offer all that I would to help? Not only that, but if one feels the NEED to guide the course of love, do they ever really love anyone? What does all that have to do with a personal belief in any deities? |

I don't begin by looking for anything. I begin by getting to know him. Then looking inside his heart, his mind. I watch and listen to him being taught by his ways. Knowing that what he represents...also represents me. And vice-versa.
It really is simple. It really is. No expectations, no wisdom, just being. There are men on here that are not Christian, but have the ways of a man that I see as being by God and if that is what I see it to be...then it is. I am not a fool, nor am I easily fooled. There is no test for him by me. Just my heart and my love to see it through. Of course his as well. Now...that is not to say that there would have to be some things that we agree on life-wise, ie...family, lifestyles, life and death. Nature, work ethics, honesty in our relationship. Porn is a big no- no. I hate it. It is a personal, not to be viewed by others thing to me. (nothing to do with God or biblical). I have to wonder why so many make it so difficult? It really is the same as anyone wants. Someone to be of the same mind as ourselves? Kat |

This is the unfortunate fate of many people who were raised under Christianity. When they become disillusioned and thrown in the towel, instead of seeking another spirituality they often just become embittered atheists snapping angrily at any notion of a supposedly loving God. They feel betrayed, not by God, buy by what they see as a totally false belief system. How could anyone actually feel betrayed by God and still believe in God? To do so would imply that they view God as a demon. Although I suppose some people do have that attitude. Many people seem to think I have that attitude because I suggest that the biblical picture of a God would be demonic. So they take that to mean that I view God as a demon. What they fail to realize is that I don’t believe in that picture of God at all. So why would I think that something is a demon that I don’t even believe exists! It’s the false picture of God that I’m saying is demonic. I actually do believe in God. I just believe in a totally different picture of God. And she is truly wonderful. There are men on here that are not Christian, but have the ways of a man that I see as being by God and if that is what I see it to be...then it is.
From my point of view this is the only sane attitude. Ask me if I am a man of religion and I will say no, I am not. Ask me if I am a man of God, and I will say, yes I am. Call me a “Christian” and I’ll probably start calling you names too. |

But since the word "Christina" pops up, you mount your soapbox. What is it with you? WEre you hurt by a Christian before? This lady has every right to have her own format. It's like choosing a certain age. I'm sure you have certain qualifications for who you prefer. Are or you just on here for this forum? I really don't think you have the qualifications to pick someone else's mate or partner whether he be Christian or not. Do you have one? |

Theemachine:
This is in response to your question. I do not know what 'every' other woman wants, but I do know I prefer a christian/spiritual man. Now, by that I do not mean religious, but one who has a personal relationship with God, in touch with his emotions and his 'inner spirit'. I have been open enough to be aquainted with men of other faiths, or none. A man who does not believe in God is not the right man for me. What is important to me that he is a man of integrity, a man of his word - he says something he does it! One that is intelligent but with common sense and wisdom, honest in his dealings with others. I expect a lot from a man in terms of the way he conducts himself. If he screws up, I expect him to be man enough to admit it, and fix it if necessary. Although, joint discussion and agreement is desirable, I do expect the man to take the lead in decision making; in a relationship as in other matters there has to be 'one' captain of the ship. As a man of faith, I expect him to be accountable for his actions and decisions. I do not expect him to believe exactly the same way that I do, to me that is why it is a 'personal' relationship. It is something we can discuss and learn from one another. |
