I have been reading the message boards. How can a city with 3+ million people and about a billion suburbs NOT have a huge and active message board??

Bridget, I've been trying to figure that out for the past year. We will have the occasional spate, where a few people show up and we get some posts -- but, for the most part, it's flatlined.

The strange thing is that I KNOW there are lots of Chicago-area people here. I see hundreds running through the "New Matches" on my home page every day. But I never see any of them post.

Why sign up for a site if you're not going to participate? I just don't get it....

Neither do I. Why in the world would you join a site to meet friends, significant others, etc...and then not try to get to know anyone?

People always confuse me.

I will tell you why its because some people try to they send messages etc.. usally dont even get a message back.Sometimes if we lower our standards a little we might be surprised who we can find.Alot of people on these kind of sites are looking for on a scale of one to ten a ten when they proabably arent even 5's.Please dont get me wrong not everyone but enough are.

I definitely agree. It just sucks...like these preferences are too black and white, you know? It is confusing!

Greekboy, you make a very good point. When I first signed up here, I used to try to e-mail some of the locals, and I NEVER got a reply! (And I'm a writer, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't that I was sending bad e-mails!)

Finally, I gave up, said screw it, stopped mailing anybody first, and just posted a lot in the forums. Now I get tons of e-mail here, and I still never write anybody first.

BUT -- all of the e-mail I get is from people really far away --New York, California, Washington, Canada, Texas, you name it, but virtually none from Illinois or Indiana.

Still have no idea what the problem is, but I'm not going to worry about it!

It's a great site. It just needs a whole BUNCH of new Chicago-area people, some who will actually use the opportunity that JSH gives them....

I know, I've been trying to do something about that for a year, and it does no good....the locals don't post in the forums, and they don't reply to e-mails either. But I know there are a lot of them on the site....for whatever reason, they just don't want to participate.

Makes no sense to me; it would be like buying a car and never taking it out of the garage.

Well, as for me, I can honestly say I am pretty busy, so I don't get to these forums every single day. But, I do try to check about twice a week. People are just lazy
