I bought my kids tearless shampoo, convinced them it wouldn't burn and stuck them in the shower!! They loved it.

Hmmm John, I think with a girl I'd wash her long hair until she was at least 8. Now I have all boys so I could be wrong but the ability master certain mobility skills isn't always there at that young age...

I buy my kids tearless shampoo too. Either Loreal for kids or Suave for kids (Suave is cheaper). They eventually get the hang of it and don't let the soap in their eyes, but in the meantime, this is doing the trick. Hope this helps...best of luck to you and your daughter. You could also try washing it while she's dressed under the kitchen sink of under the faucet in the bath tub then after you are done let her take a bath or shower by herself.

I have all boys but when they started showering alone I bought a removable shower head so they could take it down and wash there hair and bodies. Seemed to work for them and it might work for her having long hair.

i always had them sit in the tub and poured the water slowly over their hair while they kept their head tilted back and eyes shut then i started having them do it themselves until they got the hang of it.

Trick is to keep your head way back, and eyes firmly closed. It's easier in the shower. But, yeah, the tearless stuff works pretty good too.

Ditto with Gypsy's post. The wash cloth really helps.
