Happy New Year!! What do you do when your partner tells you their main priority is their job, you are just 1 of them, priorities??

Tell him that he might want to re-think his priorities.
A job should never come before a person.......NEVER.
Good luck with this.

I'm with beaporwoll on this one...nothing wrong with focusing on your job, but a significant other needs to come first

Umm, I would have more self respect..and tell them to "hit the road" because I am not willing to take "backseat" to anything but a child/children (because I understand when you are a parent, kids do come first..until they are grown then you kick them out the door! bigsmile )

So the rest is up to you. bigsmile flowerforyou

I think you might want to explore what he meant by that. Many men use their career as an identifying factor and this comes first. It comes first, because without that, a man might not seek romance, start a family, buy a house, etc etc etc. Did he truly come right out and say you are not as important to him as his job, or do you just feel that way? Perception is key here.

I love my job tremenduosly. I am the only person who does what I do in the way I do it in five counties. I make my job a priority. Without it I don't pay bills or buy food, so it's number one.

It's number one from a rational standpoint. I have romantic priorities, task oriented priorities... etc. What I would do for love is a different standand than what I would do for my career. I would never let a person feel as though they came second, because my love for a person and my need to have a fulfilling career just aren't even both fruits, much less in the same category. I need to be happy in order to be able to make someone else happy. I hope that is clear...

Then you know where you stand with them, and can begin the process of moving on if you want something more serious. If not, enjoy it while it lasts and move along.

I dunno. I can see how such a statement could be a problem. Telling your lady that she's a secondary priority isn't the smartest thing a guy could do. But at the same time I believe that we all need money to live. And therefore a man who shows dedication to his job and an abiity to provide for his lady (and possible family) if the need should arise should be respected.

LOL..a "money hunter"??

And that means "didly" if he is SMART!

I "personally" own very little..nothing major is in my name. However my corporation .. well lets say I don't ever have to worry about money...AND I don't have to worry about anyone who might be after me for "money", because I (as a person) have really nothing. bigsmile

One less factor to have to worry about in life. Take the "money" factor out and its a lot less stress. bigsmile drinker

Check the threads..I wrote a specific thread regarding "money" issues and how to "avoid" any "money issues" in any kind of relationships. bigsmile
