Tancredo: Bush Wants To Merge U.S. With Mexico and Canada Think Progress Sunday, November 26, 2006 Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), one of the leading voices on immigration for the right, claims President George W. Bush is plotting to merge the U.S. with Mexico and Canada. An excerpt from WorldNetDaily: Tancredo lashed out at the White House’s lack of action in securing U.S. borders, and said efforts to merge the U.S. with both Mexico and Canada is not a fantasy. “I know this is dramatic — or maybe somebody would say overly dramatic — but I’m telling you, that everything I see leads me to believe that this whole idea of the North American Union, it’s not something that just is written about by right-wing fringe kooks. It is something in the head of the president of the United States, the president of Mexico, I think the prime minister of Canada buys into it. … You might think the right would immediately repudiate this kind of conspiracy theory. You’d be wrong. The National Review’s Andy McCarthy came to Tancredo’s defense: This is not a fringe. It’s a wave. It’s fine to disagree with Rep. Trancredo; it’s wrong to treat him like a lunatic when he is anything but. More McCarthy: t’s not unreasonable for people to look at Bush’s immigration policies and worry that he is insufficiently alert to the internationalist pressures (what John Fonte calls “transnational progressivism”) vigorously challenging the traditional understanding of sovereignty on many fronts. Fox’s Neil Cavuto recently said Tancredo “owns” the issue of immigration predicted that “if he were to run for president, he just might well be president.” |

If Canada had ever wanted to become a part of the Union we would not
find it difficult. Under your own Articles of Confederation, which pre-date the Constitution, Under Article 11 states as follows: 'XI Canada acceding to this confederation, and adjoining into the measures of the United States, shall be admitted into, and entitled to all the advantages of this Union; but no other colony shall be admitted into the same, unless such admission be agreed to by nine States.' To my knowledge your Articles of Confederation have never been revoked. Therefore we could have joined at any time. We Like Being Canadians. Besides it would hurt a Texans feelings to no longer be the biggest state. |

I don't think the US(under General GW. Bush) wants Canada as an alley
anyway. There official flag is a Pot leaf. Why would he want a puppet of Denmark as an allay? Just more Internet hoopla that gets circulated. Anyone can write a conspiracy and post it and call it official. A no brainer. But Big sista is watching!LOFAO! |

Well Truth. It's been 30+ years since I was in the American educational
system. I'm allowed to forget some of what I've learned. Still not as bad as some Americans who come up here in the summer, with skis tied to car, expecting to find snow as soon as they cross the border. |

We took mexico once but decided if we were to defend it, we would have
to with American forces! Decided to give it back since the mexicans were not willing to defend their own country! True history! And have you ever read of a Mexican military engagement during WWII! No, although they did secretly allow German Naval experts to survey their coast line for possible U-boat bases to be used against American shipping in the Gulf of Mexico! Bet you didn't know that either! |

To respond to your comment about joing the Union however. We could if we
wanted, me personally I'm a proud Canadian. Wouldn't mind dual citizenship though like my grandfather. Even took the on-line citizenship test to see how I'd fare...80%. |
