I have to tell ya, After bieng laid off after 15 years makes a guy take another look at things and the people in his life. It's funny how having another idea about what ya might want to do at my age and putting so much time into a company only to be discarded like an old dirty rag. I have decided to move back to California and take my souvineer crafts buisness with me and see what I can do in the tourist areas there before I am forced to be thrust back into the corporate world so I can get my 2 week vacation and that mondane trip to the office everyday. now I know that most ladies want all that and the security of health insurance and 401 K's and blah blah blah so on and so fourth, but who's to say we can't get that building our own business.......Yeh Yeh I'm gonna hear back from most of you saying " Well good Luck with that" or " that's just not Reality" yeh yeh yeh PaLeeez most will be scared that they might actually have to work harder and get out of the safety net.....not that ladies that work full time for that 2-5 week vacation arn't hard working or kind people or extremly smart......Is there some one out there that wants to try?

yeah, well, not a realistic plan and good luck to ya
No, really, I'm just kidding. I think everyone should follow their dreams. You only regret the things you don't do, never the things you do. Go for it |

Yeah, I want to invest ALL my money in you!

Are you kidding , that sounds great , life is for taking chances. It is fun to start over try something new. You know having security is really not all it's cracked up to be , tip the pot alittle , have fun doing it !

Mac, I agree with you. Go do your own thing. I sold my business in 04 & started making my own life in 06. Ladies want security, but if you prove to them you don't want to be kept, it all works. I manage to pay my bills, whilebuilding my own thing. Never again will I punch a clock & play someone else's game.

Well ya .. like, "GOOD LUCK WITH THAT"
J/K .. it's a great idea, go for your Happy Place and enjoy the journey. Sounds like you've got nothin' to keep you where you are at, and nothin' to keep you from where you want to go. And remember, it's the people to afraid to follow their own dreams that try to discourage you from seeking yours. |

I think that sounds like a fabulous plan! Who wants to work for "the man" anyway. It IS completely reasonable and just because it's not 9-5 doesn't mean it's not stable. And, honestly, stability sometimes is not it's all cracked up to be, either - you found that out by losing "stability" after 15 years of hard work.
Anyway, Mac, I'm certain there WILL be an open-minded, free-spirited woman who would love to go on this adventure with you. I'll be in the cheering section! I think it's great what you are doing. |
