At least you know I'm honest, as I know you are as well. Hope you and your loved ones have a bright and happy 2008.

Thank you redy.......and I hope that 2008 ushers nothing but happiness for you and yours......

P.S. I would never take a dart to your pic........maybe voile but never redy. hahahaha

Where has voile been hiding anyway..I haven't seen him in a coons age.

Tell me what you believe as far as belief in God?, No God? What??????

When things suck....who or what do you turn to?????

When things are good......Who do you thank?

Debbie -- Please don't take what I have to say in the wrong way -- because I am not trying to offend. Your thread about the mods yesterday told me a lot about you, and I appreciate the obvious sincerity that you have consistently shown!

But -- Like Redy, I myself am an atheist, and have been for quite some time. I've read the Bible, cover to cover, seven times. There is much that appeals to me, philosophically. There is some marvelous writing. But, as a belief system, as a model for living a life, it simply doesn't work for me.

I have spent a great deal of time examining and researching religion....religions. Bottom line, none of it makes any sense to me.

My best friend is about as devout a Christian as they come. He and I love each other like brothers; there is no condemnation, no name-calling (maybe a little bit, in fun!) but we have some amazing discussions. Because of all my past Bible reading, I often help him in locating passages he is looking for.

To cite a couple of atheist "bumper sticker" sayings: "I believe in life before death"...."When I do good I feel good; when I do bad I feel bad: that's my religion."

I don't claim any sort of universal knowledge, any sort of "truth" here -- I may well be wrong -- we may ALL be wrong -- (I suspect it may turn out to be that way!) -- and I have always been willing to admit my mistakes. I have had plenty of practice.

But, as of today, I just can't honestly say I have seen a single thing to indicate to me that God exists. If he shows up at my door with proper ID, I'm perfectly willing to adjust my viewpoint!

One thing I would like to stress here -- I have no beef with anyone who doesn't try to cram their beliefs down my throat -- we ARE going to disagree on things, and that's fine. We need to be able to do so civilly, and with respect. If we can do that, then maybe we can learn something from each other.

As to your question -- when things suck -- I don't blame anyone except myself (assuming I had something to do with it!) -- or maybe somebody else (if they had something to do with it!) -- I don't "see" anyone else to blame, really. The same when things are good.

I just don't have the "need" for any supernatural presences in my life. I'm not saying that the concept can't help some people; just that I am not comfortable with that sort of "help" -- I see it as too ethereal, too "fictitious," in the sense of being undemonstrable.

But that's just me....!

Of course I don't take it the wrong way Lex its how you feel...and that is way ok with me. As I said before redy is my my friends list first and I would not have it any other way.....And I hope if anyone feels like I am cramming anything....that they would call me on it....Cuz I would never intentionally do so.

And I honestly have and will learn alot from people without knowing to whom they pray and don't pray.....an individual thing...

God is omniscient.

To suggest that I would need to “turn to God” implies that I somehow turned away from him in the first place which I never have.

So for me, the question is moot.

God experiences everything I experience. I'm never alone.

That's right Abra. You never are.flowerforyou

When things are good......Who do you thank?

I believe that God exists due to miracles I have privey to.
I did not always believe.

When things are bad I pray. When things are good. I aknowledge His existance in my life and praise the miracles that I see.

Good bad or ugly. It is all part of life. I live it, except it, love it.

Kat

I believe animals watch over us. Every time I would try to kill myself one of my cats would snap me out of it. If your kind to animals, than they will be kind back. Also I believe in reincarnation because sitting around heaven forever doesn't seem all that much fun. drinker

I turn to my altar, and ask my Goddess for help, and thank her as well.
