For those that go from military to other govt svc...we call have a tendency to say ex. Still in a branch of govt but divorced from one honorably en married to another honorably. LOL.

Sure. Absent With Out Leave. Meaning left the military without permission. Is not a dumb question. We get used to using acros we forget.

I could kinda understand IF they were drafted, but if you go into the service on your own will, you should do what you signed up for, and not back down. An AWOL soldier is not a soldier IMO, they're a coward, and part of the problem.

I have alot of respect for those who sacrifice literally everything for this country DESPITE my views and feelings about our government. For someone to POSE as a soldier and go AWOL is a disgrace to those who who TRUELY are soldiers.

ok hopefully i can redeem myself a little. i signed up when i was seventeen uz it was that or the street and they sorta conned me and my dad cuz my dad specifically said he would not sign me in he said he would only sign for me to get a physical to find out if i was eligable but the recruiters knowing full well that my dad could not read gave him the parental consent forms to sign and said all he was signing was a release to get a physical. i know i know i shoulda never swore in the second time but as an impulsive kid with a metal history of bi-polar, adhd, and other things i did i tryed to get out legally it wasnt working as my deployment date loomed closer and closer i freaked to the max and split as of dec. 29 i was suppossed to be in afghanistan

I understand. You were not ready. I have seen some pretty sneaking recruiting techniques en DO NOT agree with that. You should report back to your commander en let him know what happened. Basic end would be a medical discharge most likely if you explained the situation. They would rather have you tell the truth en be discharged than get yourself killed in Afghanistan if you do not know what you are doing.

If you were too young to sign your own papers...then that was the first indication there is an issue. En if they knew you were on meds for your conditions, that is the second issue.
Both sides are at fault on this one.
