I am not saying any particular person should or should't be in the forum. I am just wondering why they want to belittle others and be so arguementative?

Maybe your just taking this too serious. The whole point of this is to have fun right?

Not trying to disrespect you or be rude, but what you're saying is also rude to those being rude, you should show love, not just love to those who are kind, love to all.

hey i get ridiculed and heckled by religious people in the forums all the time cuz i ask questions, maybe they might find them disrespectful cuz it doesn't agree with their views or whatever but it's things i actually wonder about, it was an honest question. and i get back "well your going to hell because you don't believe yadda yadda yadda". so the way i look at it is, if you do it others are going to do it back.

While I understand where you're coming from, please keep in mind that most people who are "unbelievers" (as you so belittle them) find religion to be a joke - so ticking off the "bible-toting bigots" is a game to them. I myself would never take anything on this site seriously, nor much of anything on the internet. If someone says they want to meet me they'd better tell me how they feel face to face - I'm not falling in love with their screenname. The cool thing about the digital world is it offers a facade for you to throw sh** at people and then hide behind an avatar. Forums are full of people spreading crap because they don't have anything better to do or for people like myself, who find a few minutes out of their day to entertain themselves watching the stupid posts that other people put up.

Wow, major edit from the first version of this OP. Given that first version, I'd like to hear your comments on the thread entitled "Pray that all courts think this way." It's OP said this:

Though I'm not real religious,
I consider myself Christian,
at least that's the belief
system I most identify with.

But if either believers or
non-believers show intolerance
for each other, it inhibits
the dialogue.

For Christians, the sin of Pride
enters in when they judge others.

In the Bible there is a quote:
"Why do you look at the speck
that is in your brother's eye,
but do not notice the log that
is in your own eye?" (or words
to that effect).

The point is, people have reasons
for why they believe, or do not
believe, and we should try to
understand them.

Well, there are several reasons.

1. There is no philosophy and/or science topic.

2. If there were, I'm sure the fundies would feel free to jump right in and try to discredit evolution. After all they see no reason to stay away from the topic that DON'T specifically include religion.

3. There are simply some philisophical topics that get much better responce in the religion catagory.

4. There are some people genuinely interested in what others believe and how they came by those beliefs.

FINALLY, in your opening post, you don't specify "believer" in what. So in these religion threads, there are many more believers - than just those who believe as YOU DO.

We all make mistakes, but it helps sometime to think about a bigger picture, before making a little comment!

Because we dont have a forum, and even non believers, are in a sense, a form of religion...

Maybe I do take some of the bashing I've seen here too seriously. I understand everyone has a right to believe whatever they choose to. Maybe I am the one who should stay out of the religious forum.

Your headline to this one caught my attention, so I thought I would put my statment in, and say it doesn't apply to me. I don't believe there for I stay away. I don't like people telling me what to believe, so I don't tell other people!

That is really how it should be...I don't mind explaining to someone how or why I believe what I do or listen to why they believe what they do...but I am appalled to see how some people come in here just to ridicule others for what they believe and make fun of them for it or just to be cruel. I guess I take it too seriously. Others see it as entertaining. It is so easy to offend people especially regarding religion... but everyone has to draw a line somewhere. I used to believe there was a Santa Claus too but I don't want to bash the people who still believe there is one...or go into his space and denounce him to those who believe in him either...it is just mean. I can understand a plethora of reasons why people don't believe but I don't understand why others feel compelled to bash them for it. After all no one can prove most of anything here beyond a shadow of a doubt either way.

Most that post in the forums that do not believe in God ( the way we do )are simply not as the same belief as some of us. The intelligent ones just want to make sure we have all the reasoning's why they do not and maybe give us some of their insight as to why they do not. Either giving us reason to question our beliefs for answers or strenghening it.
Some have great input and cause for some great debates.
Then there are those that just haven't a clue. Control becomes their issue therefore causing chaos, or trying to.

It is all good here. Really it is. Stick around and have some great chats.
Keep to your convictions and just listen. Think for yourself and don't worry about it. If your belief has much strength, it will not falter.

The religion forum is not a religion specific forum. Different religions and paths of life are going to encounter each other. I think education wise this is a good thing. By having different religious and non-religious people talk and see the "human"ness of each other, this just might be a way to get religions out of the them and us mentality and take it to a, "Hey, there is a PERSON holding that belief." and may be even a realization that the person and the religion is so very much more than you would have otherwise been aware of.
