Ok I'm a part-time poet, and I think a poem is a great icebreaker. However, I am also passionate about my writing and liberally use words like, love, forever, and such. I would write an example but this site moved my question to the poetry section last time I tried.

Do women take that too literally? Do word such as love, commitment, and always scare them or what?

I figure it's something like that, or is it something more obvious like my lengthy profile and merely average looks?

Girls are picky, as you must think of how many guys message them each day. Its stupid and annoing I know, but it is what it is I guess. Given time someone might show intrest, and just keep looking, never hurts to message and not get a responce.

peccy... you need to explain what you mean. are you writing these poems to women you are in love with or just in general?

Personally, those kinds of words in an introductory sense send me running. After you get to know a girl, she'd probably be more comfortable with that language.

No love is not a part of the equation.

Every woman is differant, with some writing a poem is the sweetest thing you can do but for others, poetry itself is too cliche'. All depends on the womans personality, just remember the 5 words every woman wants to hear "I'm sorry you were right";^]

Personally, I can relate to poetry as a way to express feelings and thoughts. I often find that the writing of others "speaks" to me. The words hit a chord and resonates. So, I don't find your use of the words "like, love, forever, commitment" intimidating.flowerforyou
Your profile tells alot about you; just give it a chance and some time. She's out there somewhere.

peccy, I still do not understand your question... What is it you want to know? Do women like poetry or do we like your poetry? To whom are you giving it to? At what point?

I am asking is my poetry too much to use as an ice breaker. Is it to deep, too profound with my liberal usage of word like "Love and forever." Truthfully, who likes my poetry is of little concern to me, because I like it.

The answer is YES!!!! It is sooo not icebreaker material. Poetry is intimate. My opinion, of course. Take it whatever weight you allot to it. Good luck.
