and I know where to find them.

I have two friends at work. One is a manager in another department, and one works for him. The manager just told me that after the busy season is over, my other friend is being fired. I am furious because he knows that his staff guy and I are friends, and I am in the position of knowing that something really bad is about to happen to someone I care about. Meanwhile, the soon to be fired friend is about to embark on a grueling schedule, which he is dreading; not knowing that he will be fired when it is over.

What the heck do I do????Help! huh

Tough situation, but I would tell your friend. I would want to know, that's for sure. But, be prepared for backlash from your other friend. It could backfire onto you and you need to prepare yourself for those consequences, should they occur.

Good luck!

I would tell your friend. That way, he has time to look for another job and avoid the grueling schedule he doesn't want to do in the first place. I don't mean to sound like an ***hole, but not telling him would make you a bad friend for letting him get used like that.

How unprofessional of that manager to tell you this!! I understand he is a friend of yours, but where is his professionalism?? I agree with Winnie. I would also tell him how wrong it is to put you in the middle.

I would tell the guy that they're planning on firing him when the busy season is over -- if he's really dreading the schedule, at least now he will have an option to quit or to stick around knowing he's only got a brief and grueling time left there.

For me, if I knew and DIDN'T tell him, I would have a hard time living with myself.

I think the manager friend wants you all to himself, so he is getting rid of his competition.

Tell the manager that the man is your friend and you sure did'nt appreciate being put in the middle!
Perhaps you should tell the friend. Hopefully it will not
result in you being fired also. Good luck! Perhaps this
manager is testing you.

Not a very good manager if you ask me.

This is a very tough situation, on the one hand you have your friend, then on the other you have your job to do. I would have to tell my friend, but maybe the manager wants you to tell so they will quit. That way the company won't have to pay unemployment. I would go talk with the manager and tell him or her that this is your friend. Sometimes sharing your opinion about something can change the outcome of a situation.

Good Luck Nora.

If your friend quits due to this information he cannot draw unemployment until he finds another job. If he is fired, which I assume it may be more of a lay off or reduction in force, he can collect unemployment.

It is unethical of the manager to tell you this and the employee has the right to file a grievance (depending on the policies of your organization).

The age old situation of exploitation comes to bear, the fact is there is never a time of year when this to be more predominate then the Christmas rush season, work them like dogs , then cut them loose.

You must tell your friend this and I pray they find a better job, me I work for my self, Have for most of my adult life, for I will never be taken advantage of by people that are stupider then me.
