It is ok to work with alternative materials(think out side the box) including children's air dry clay or that puffy model stuff they now make for kids that is softer and lighter and easier on the hands to work. I have been playing with using different percentages of light weight spackling compound to a medium thickness product, and mix until it is an easier workable texture for hands, and in my case ars that get tired/sore easily.
