Topic: Summer Showers | |
---|---|
I find myself remembering turquoise plastic pools
and shower curtains spread over bahia grass. Barefoot and bare chest, soaked jean cutoffs wrung out on the run up. Powder blue above a tin roof and grapefruit trees, brassy sun split into beams by rain puffed clouds. Spitting out watermelon seeds machine gun style. Leapt into a belly flop skidding over bumps and divots filled with city water stinking of chlorine, abruptly stopped by the muddy turf beyond. Goosebumps rise as chilly droplets begin falling from the sagging gray above. Cumulus bottom collapses into a puddling downpour stinking of ozone. Sweltering days cooled by sunny showers. I relish those bygone summers. |
