Topic: What would happen | |
---|---|
I am curious about something. This Presidential election is a good example to use too. President Bush is at the end of his eight years and can not serve as President any longer. So, what would happen if all the candidates were disliked so much that not a single vote was cast for the presidential election. I mean not a single solitary vote.
Would we choose new candidates? Would Bush continue on as President until one was voted in? Just some food for thought, for all those that say they dont like a single candidate and refuse to vote because of it. What would happen? |

actualy thats almost impossible because our states representatives in the house and senate are the ones who cast our votes for us so if the people were to not vote then i believe they would have to vote for us.... i could be wrong tho

it's not the representitives in the senate, it's called an electorial college and it's certain people (not in any other office) put in place to represent a portion of a states population . and they generally do vote the same way as the states population but they do not have to. it is possible for a candidate to receive the majority of the public's votes and still not get elected but it's a very slim chance. as far as nobody voting at all, i never thought about it but i'm sure they have some "system" to get around that as-well. maybe they gives votes to dead people like they did in past elections who knows. be interesting to look up though.

I do not vote but I would hope Bush would not be able to remain president another four years. He has messed up this dang country for long enough. I probably should not get a say since I do not vote but I do get to have an opinion.
As for nobody voting, it does not matter what we want anyways. The stupid electoral college is the thing that counts anyways. Wasn't it the last election with Bush that someone else won for popularity but the electoral college votes went to Bush and he won overall? I do not get into politics too much. |

That is why I do nto agree with an electoral college system. It should be each persons vote counted. It is not as if we do no t have the technology to count everyones vote and add it together to get a popular vote.

Most likely the states would vote along party demographics. However, if as a union we all said we would not stand for any of the candidates presented and actually had the guts to back it up we could force the issue... but that's resorting to considering the government a tyrany and rising up in arms...
I don't think we are there quite yet, but if things don't change back to the government working for the people rather than for themselves we may end up there. I honestly think that we need to overhaul the government, to include less waste and spending on certain areas and more funding in other neccessary areas. Those neccessary areas I consider to be: Education, Police, and government auditing (ie. hiring outside auditors to analyze government spending.) |

How could us saying we do not agree with any of the candidates be considered a rise in arms? If we refused to let any one volunteering for the job in cause we thoght none of them would be good, and demanded someone else, how would that be rising in arms. that would be following our right as an American to choose our leaders, or to put it another way, choose who our leaders will NOT be. |

Alexander Haig is fully prepared to take charge once again!
Fear Not! "Constitutionally, gentlemen, you have the President, the Vice President and the Secretary of State in that order, and should the President decide he wants to transfer the helm to the Vice President, he will do so. He has not done that. As of now, I am in control here, in the White House, pending return of the Vice President and in close touch with him. If something came up, I would check with him, of course." ——Alexander Haig Former Atty. General Ashcroft may also be willing if i put my shirt back on or agree to wear victorian greyish green pasties but i refuse. |

i think the speaker would be president
if this was to happen they are number 3 in line and if no one is elected upon expiring term then there would be a vacancy of both president and vice-president leaving the speaker to take the office but the electoral college would put some one in regardless of if no one voted or not |
