i say most newer movies don't count. since they're not actually scary, just gory.

There is a buzz among horror movie buffs that "Cannibal Holocaust" is the scariest and most realistic horror movie to ever be made. It was shot in the seventies, but the people getting canibalized look very very real. Many thought that the scenes were real. My ex is the biggest horror fan out there...nothing creeps him out. But watching that movie "disturbed" him. I in fact own it, but have been too scared to watch it. I figure if my ex can't handle it, I sure as heck won't be able to...

i say most newer movies don't count. since they're not actually scary, just gory. to me there's a big difference between a psychological horror movie and a gore film |

I have yet to find a true horror movie The Japanese originals of The Ring (all three), The Grudge (1 & 2) and Dark Water are masterpieces of creepy, unnerving horror if you don't mind subtitles. Hollywood runis good Japanese films I agree!!... |

I don't think the SAW movies are scary, just sick. The Shinning is a classic. Yep...Ditto that...I never bothered with Saw 4, and didn't finish watching Saw 3.. |
