as the article mentioned, in protected waters, sharks biggest threat is other larger sharks,. but out side protected waters it is other nations that dont abide by international laws that are there for their protection.. the 2 largest predatory sharks are the great white and the bull shark. but reef and tiger sharks also hunt them. (sharks are also cannibals, they eat their weaker brothers and sisters while in gestation.)

I dont know ... maybe it is because I grew up on a farm, and eat meat, but animals well taken care of in captivity, I view the same as people that own cats , dogs, or birds for their personal entertainment and comfort.
and if not for these aquariums, and zoo's many people would not have the awareness to how endangered some of those animals are. also with out their breading programs, some of those animals may no longer exist.
it is all in the context of how you view the situation.
they thought freeing willie (the orca) would be a good thing. but once released back into the wild. he died shortly after his release.
so what was more barbaric. keeping him where he was taken care of, and he, by all appearances was happy.
or releasing him?
