This topic actually started in a different thread but I believe it really deserves it's own discussion.

LongHairBiker? Chime in?

To start off with, Why is there a warning label on hair dryers and other such appliances that say "DO NOT USE IN THE BATHTUB" ??

If you grew up in a country with electrical service and indoor plumbing, went to school long enough to learn to read, and are capable of self-grooming methods then shouldn't you already know better than to mix sparky and splashy??

I guess its for little kids who can read, but wait, why would you dry your hair, where you WANT to get your hair WET, not DRY!

My favorite, on a can of honey roasted peanuts:

Allergen warning: This product contains nuts or nut products.

Believe it or not some folks still don't know better. Warning labels are good though, we don't have to read 'em;^]

Also, on a pair of my son's pajamas when he was little (superman, I think):

This product does not give the ability to fly.

Great point aaronsdad. To me this thread should be nominated to those who make defiant statements against THE LAWS OF NATURE! Or famous last words by the incompetent before impending disasters.

Warning labels protect the companies from lawsuits. That's why they're used.

Yeah, famous last words are great too...

"Do you think it's dead?"

"Hey! Watch what I can do!"

"Just a minute, let me plug it in"

That warning probably came after some idiots trying to shower, shave, ****, and blow dry their hair in the shower without using the other resources so they wouldn't be late for work...

Probably sometime after that is when they decided to make the Shower Radio for the idiots who accidentally dropped their corded radio in the tub...

Common sense issues. My favorite tag on a dress shirt I have says "for best results warm wash and tumble dry. For not so good results wash in puddle and dry on roof rack of car".

even the oillow have those tags with warning about removing it is against the law--what's up with that--

Dang I LOVE it when companies poke fun at the stupidity of our litigious society!

Actually the pillow and mattress tags are for the retailers.

THEY can't remove them because there is IMPORTANT WARNING INFORMATION on them that the great unwashed masses cannot survive without.

Yeah.

There's actually a reason for that, though I can't remember what it is. It's actually only illegal to remove it before it's sold. Once you buy it, you can do whatever the heck you want laugh

ya know what is even funnier... when they put out a product and realize a month later that there is several problems with 6 parts and after 70 people choke on em, slice their arm, or whatever have you... THEN they recall em... Wouldn't they have saved billions if they checked all this crap out first BEFORE they started to sell the product!?!?

Famous last words. My freinds and I were working on a 8 second in the quarter mile big block chevelle. My freind andy had all eight plug wires in his right hand to a 100,000 volt racing ignition trying to get the motor to set on top dead center to time it. Sitting behind the wheel I heard andy say "ok! Turn it over!" famous last words. I heard a loud boom. That was andy being blasted into the wall 60 feet away. As he came to in the hospital he said to me "ooops, forgot I had the plug wires in my hand!" I said "andy we should hook you up to that race coil more often! Bet we could get better quarter mile times than with the car!"
