You climb up to a cottage
Way up on a hill You see the poet sitting By the window sill You creep up close Just like a ghost To see what he is writing Through the poets window You see a familiar pain Deep inside Strong feelings abide Teardrops fall like rain By Don Zimmerman 4/21/2019 This poem has a bit of a double meaning. "through the poets window" is a line that represents not only the physical window, but also, the window of his soul or feelings. For me, poetry is an expression of real things, real emotion. It's that feeling you get when you read something and you identify with it, you immediately understand what the poet was feeling when they wrote it. |
