Wonderful!
See, this is why I posted the list here. So many oldies I haven't heard in years and totally forgot about. A few of the songs I already have but didn't include them on the actual playlist. Plus there's many more I have not on the playlist but still good ones. Thanx for taking time to add some songs! |

Well, hey, look, I'm sorry, but... I have to be a little picky. Firstly they're nearly all in alphabetical order by song, I'd do it the other way, but not all, take Rod Stewart in the R section for example, tsk tsk.
Secondly I have to take exception to some of the cover versions, black magic woman, I heard it through the grapevine, son of a preacherman. No Peter Green, no Marvin Gaye, no Dusty Springfield. Okay, okay, it's your playlist, but quite often people think black magic woman is a song by Santana, this makes me want to scream. I don't mind him, and it's not a bad version, but I find a lot of his stuff samey, and like, well now here's another 7 minute guitar solo, that sounds a lot like the other ones, with some congos and 1 of those shakey raspy things. Also I'd like to add a White Denim song - Take it easy ( everlasting love ) ... admittedly it's not that old, but when I first heard it, I couldn't believe it was new, I could've sworn that it was an old song that I'd heard years ago, plus, well, it's just awesome |

Okay, okay, it's your playlist, but quite often people think black magic woman is a song by Santana, this makes me want to scream. Also I'd like to add a White Denim song - Take it easy ( everlasting love ) ... admittedly it's not that old, but when I first heard it, I couldn't believe it was new, I could've sworn that it was an old song that I'd heard years ago, plus, well, it's just awesome I knew this would come up eventually.... The reason why they are in alphabetical order as they are is this is how the file system sorted them when I viewed the list alphabetically. The playlist is actually played on shuffle play in the player (winamp). All my playlists are played in shuffle. Next, is the alpha listing of artists on some of the songs. This is because the songs I have taken from movies have been edited to show the artist name in the song title. I have 10 albums (and counting) of movie/TV show songs. If I leave the title pristine, my WMP (my primary listing) moves that song to its respective artist's folder. Since my Movie Rip folder has many duplicate songs to my main library, I chose to edit in the artist name at the beginning to set it apart from the rest of my library. I also edited in which movie or show I found that selection. (in parenthesis) So... Rod Stewart - [I Know] I'm Losing You (Halloween 2) (Zodiac) tells me at a glance that song is taken from a movie(s) and is located in my Movie Rip folder. I also know at a glance the movies it is in...(Halloween 2) & (Zodiac). Additionally, I know the songs which list the song title then the artist means I have a specific folder containg a collection by that artist. Example: 30 Days In The Hole - Humble Pie is located in my Humble Pie collection and not a movie rip. Finally, I didn't list every song I have which falls under the header of an oldie. I listed some songs as my GF and I decided on, that we like to listen to. Its not meant to be pristine and only original versions by original artists. Its meant to be a playlist of songs we like to hear. There is an error tho. I can't edit this list but I already corrected it in my playlist and file system. The Spinners - The Rubberband Man (Guardians Of The Galaxy 2) was taken from the movie (Avengers: Civil War) not (Guardians of the Galaxy 2). I also expect someone will try to define "oldies' differently than we do. There may be a rule of thumb which determines the age which establishes a song as an oldie. I don't care about that. My definition of an oldie is a song which is 5-10 years old or more. Not the version of a song, the song itself. I find this in movie soundtracks a lot. The movie studio can't secure the rights to a song so they change it a lil in some way and play it as their own creation. Sometimes, I enjoy that newer version of an old song more than the pristine original performance. Since it is MY playlist I listen to, I'm not worried about the social semantics. I posted it here as a list for conversation. Not only might it allow someone to remember an old forgotten favorite, it allows others to look at the selections and make suggestions and inspire discussions. Thanks to discussions on these playlist listing threads I now have a huge list of new songs and artists to look for to get for my own offline collection. I'm like that. For instance, I like the songs Radar Love and Twilight Zone by Golden Earring. So much so, I researched the group and searched out all the music I could find. Come to find out they have been playing since 1961 and have a huge discography. Because of my love for two songs I now have 19 Albums, 157 Songs totaling 15.2 Hours. Many of which I thoroughly enjoy. You're not wrong about the quality of some of the songs. There are some I don't care for much on this playlist but It is a joint playlist with my GF and sometimes what I really like and what she really likes don't always match but she is just as entitled to her favorites as I am to mine. If I am listening alone, I just advance the song to one I like. |

I've been really into the blues for about the last 20 years.
I'm attracted to the Motown Sound. Diana Ross (and The Supremes) always catches my ear. Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Marvelettes, The Jackson 5 and so on. I think it has a lot to do with the radio play from our local radio station when I was young. Hearing those songs brings back childhood memories. We used to hit the record store once or twice a week and I had a huge collection of 45s. Even had a 'Close-N-Play'. I could take my music with me. The batteries wouldn't last long but wow, I had mobile music...Neat! |

During my freshman year of high school I was listening to hard rock.
I would take my Super 8 to school with me and we would jam out between class and during lunch. LOL, The teachers hated it. We loved it. All the 8 tracks I owned during that time frame is now considered "Oldies Music". |

There is no way on earth I'm going to read through that list.
First, oldies is a subjective term. Oldies to who? Second, I don't have a playlist. I listen to whatever my mood dictates. Third, geez. Can you narrow the focus a bit for those of us that do not need to know every song in your head? Maybe start decade threads. I did that once it worked quite well until somebody decided to post 98 songs on one post (who was that?) I'm begging you to go against your inclinations and just post a song per post. :) Peace and love. Happy holidays. |

I'm so happy my posts urge you to complain.
Consider, just for a moment that I don't post with you in mind. My world does not revolve around pleasing you. I know, I know...Its a difficult concept for you to grasp but reality is harsh sometimes. I prefer steak to pizza anyday. |
