Topic: Vacancy - a poem of love, loss & hope

I was sitting looking at a picture in a dull looking lounge of a dull house.
The colours used were so blue & so too was the woman beside me.
I saw rows of houses & a dreary looking lake, smack bang in the middle & closed off with a gate.
There's no birds, no people or sign of life-
Just trees looking bare & two boats - near left & far right.
Why would anyone waste time to paint such a thing?
It.s just houses, water, sky & well....- nothing.
A grand picture of nothing that hangs on a wall.
For me to just stare at, but see nothing at all & then it hit me-
It.s just like the house, with a mother and a son, who've lost their meaning to life.
I feel sorrow, I feel pity for all I now see,
but there's hope in the centre of the picture-
Two very tall standing Trees.....
A little sad knowing- there used to be three.
But something tells me, deep down they'll stay standing whatever may be.
