I know what you mean Tanyaann I used to live in Michigan
for years but moved here to AZ 14yrs ago. They just
passed this law here in AZ in May. But it dosent
apply to the clubs like Moose lodge or American Legion
the private clubs are exempt from this law.
It is so nice now to go into a bar or resturant
without coming out smelling like an ash tray.

There being probably several thousand people on the site.. and by all indications more men then woman.. I'd think that there would be a few guys you'd find attractive that don't smoke. Hang in there. You seem to be an attractive young lady and the numbers are in your favor.

After reading your profile though.. aside from the smoking.. you do seem as if you are painting your world to be a bit small.

For instance...A history of drug use/ alcohol use...does not always equate to a bad thing. I know many ~ myself included ~ that use the experience to help others avoid it. That was the basis for my past tenure in social services. Part of which was in direct support to domestic violence protection services. As well as mentoring men who were convicted of said crime/ other criminal behaviors.

I understand the age thing.. but people are still just people. You might find someone near my age who fits you.. but he probably won't find you, after reading your profile. He couldn't email you even if he wanted to anyway..

Then the distance challenged... Distance ~ As much emphasis as we tend to put on it.. is really one of the least of the issues that kill a relationship. If you don't want to leave Detroit.. I'm sure there are men out there that might be willing to relocate from wherever...

I know that over the years.. even before Internet dating, I have racked up enough frequent flyer miles to book a few trips around the world... getting to know people I have met. I've also ripped up my life and relocated once, with no regrets! I've considered it 3 times in the last 4 years too.. traveling to far flung places after meeting women via the net. Actually securing a few job offers in a community 2300 miles away. What stopped me was not the distance..but honesty, communication and compatibility challenges that could not be overcome... standard fare in the demise of any relationship distant or near.

So.. maybe loosen up the physical and surface standards some... give a few more of these guys a shot. You really have nothing to lose for it.

Best of luck to you.

Have the man not smoke around your son. Unless the man smokes 24/7 there should be no problem. There is no drug on Earth that is even close to being as bad as cigarettes.

That doesn't always work.. The smoke gets into fiber and hangs. It can trigger a reaction several hours, days after for those especially sensitive.

I quit cold turkey, I think that's the best way. You aren't going to do anything until you make up your mind to do so. But, I know that some people need a little help, however some people that use the patch or other aids, become addicted to them or start smoking again. Good luck to everyone who is quitting!! Make it a life goal though, not a New Years resolution.

I know how you feel about not wanting to date a smoker. I have asthma and so does my son...so to be honest it is more of a medical issue. I actually did date a smoker and it was horrible. He knew we both had asthma but it seemed that it didn't really matter to him.
I finally said that he either had to stop smoking OR he needed to change all of his clothes before he was around us. I think when people smoke they just don't think about it...its becomes a habit and they just naturally light up. Needless to say, he is still smoking but it won't ever be in my home again

I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, but it doesn't bother me if someone else does. I'll take a smoker over a drinker any day....

If the guy is worth it, and he feels the same, he will stop smoking. I was with my childrens father for 5 years, he initially lied about smoking, and then NEVER quit, to this day.

The first guy I started dating after him, I found out smoked, and I told him that smoking and the smell is a HUGE turn off to me, and what did he do? quit COLD TURKEY!

We aren't dating anymore and he hasn't smoked since he quit.

I dont somke myself and living in Arizona its
GREAT!! Smoking is no longer allowed in Bars or
resturants. All smokers must not smoke within
20 feet from the front door of any business.
No more smoking sections in the resturants
only outdoor patios away from front doors.

LOVE IT!!!! LOVE IT!!!!

You may love it but at what cost? When these laws go into effect, people quit smoking. Taxes are raised and more people quit. Now this money has to be made up somewhere and as a result, many of our other taxes go up as well. Tobacco products bring in billions of dollars. What is going to happen when nobody is smoking?

I would also like to add. I am a smoker but I would quit for the right person and if they couldn't be around smoke, I would not smoke around them at all during the dating process.

Why do all the attractive guys have to be smokers? Why? I am an exsmoker and my son is highly allergic. I have scanned through several profiles of wonderful guys, but they are smokers. I am not going to preach about how bad smoking is, but where are the good guys that don't smoke ohwell

Sincerely Searching,

tanya

I don't smoke anymore and my children are both allergic....
