Man, I loved Nirvana, I was sooooo mad tho, the day after my b-day was when they discovered his body. Oh well, nobody lives forever, not yet anyway;^] I agree with you super band Did you see or hear Unplugged In New York very good if you can get hold of it. Heh, I taped it the night it aired, I was upset though they cut those couple meat puppets songs of the airing, glad it made the cd tho;^] |

I agree with you super band Did you see or hear Unplugged In New York very good if you can get hold of it. I have that recorded on VHS! I re recorded it a few years ago, in '04 when MTV and MTV2 had a huge 10 year tribute to Kurt. When they aired it that time they did have the Meat Puppets songs in it. |

Is something wrong with me when I find a depressing song like Down in a hole by Alice in Chains uplifting?

Oh man, I don't know how I forgot this, shame on me...lol Anybody remember The Infectious Grooves? It was Mike Muir's (from Suicidal Tendencies) other band. Man, I never heard anything like it before it or after it, they did a song called "Therapy" with Ozzy Osbourne, off the hook;^]

Best band from the 90's? I have to go with OASIS. Yeah, they made headlines outside of there music, but when they made a CD or performed they always were fantastic.
NIRVANA- Saw them live, and they were okay. Mind you this was before they broke it big. I think all that needs to be said has been. PUBLIC ENEMY- In 1990, released what I feel to be the most important album to date, Fear Of A Black Planet. There will never be another PE. RADIOHEAD- Still going strong today, but this is one of the better bands to have existed in a long time. ALICE IN CHAINS- Today, they are looked upon as a great band. But back in the 90's people just never seemed to give them there due. And how about the Spice Girls? Hey, they were 90's music too. |

I prefer 80's music..but I still like music from the 90's.

@Goofball, Fear Of A Black Planet was off the chain, I think It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back was equaly important though, but it's all rellevant in todays world no doubt, "Don't Believe The Hype". Good thing is, still is a PE. "Son Of A Bush", "The Flavor Flav Show", "Hell No, We Ain't Alright", just a few of many. I bought the then newly released "Beats & Places" in 2006, came with the cd plus a DVD PACKED with music videos & documentaries. At $17 it was still a steal & there's a lesson in music marketing too, give us the consumers that extra love;^]

Well Turtlepoet, "It Takes A Nation Of Millions" is very important. Heck, I can't think of anything that PE did that wasn't. I just think the what "Fear" did was wake up people. It wasn't just about the struggle that was going on in the projects. "Fear" just opened up a new world to suburban America. You can say that Ice Cube's "Amerikkka's Most Wanted" did that too, but I just don't find Cube's album as strong a statement as PE's. Flav and Chuck D just got it right on "Fear". You are right. Even 17 years later, both albums are relevant to our world, which does show you that we still have a long way to go. But make no mistake about it, back in 1990, when I bought this CD, I was utterly amazed at what I was listening to.

My nick name then was "Hanson Spice" I wore nothing but Hanson Tshirts and huge platform tennis shoes like Baby Spice's... I SWEAR I'm not making this up |

PE is one of my all time rap groups for that reason. Them, KRS One (or back with BDP), Rakim, and yes, even the legendary Kool Moe Dee..lol;^] |

I grew up on really great rock, thru the 60's & early 70's. Groups like the Beatles, Dead, Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Cream, etc. The disco era totally sucked & the late 70's-80's produced few decent bands (notable exceptions: Talking Heads & Pretenders). For me, the 90's produced the first new & original music since the 70's. Nirvana, Pumpkins, RadioHead & Chili Peppers made me pay attention to new music again.
