True love is about vulnerability, allowing someone to see that you want and need them in your life, and trusting them not to hurt you. "Love is not about sex, going on fancy dates , OR showing off, it's about being with a person who makes you happy in a way nobody else can" To make relationship work it takes a lot of forgiveness and hard work. you can't just walk away when things get difficult.

I don't rely on others to make me happy. I must be happy alone and fulfilled alone.

It's not another's job to do such a thing. That would take too much energy away from one's relationship or even friendship IF one is going to have one. It might even drag it down.

Humans should "enhance" each other in a relationship, and build on that. Far less drama, and if Schitt hit's the fan, a couple can handle it as a team, and get through what they have to get through with twice the strength and determination.
